How good the insurance company is can only really be tested when a claim is submitted.

Of course we all consider the cover required and the price but it’s when a claim is submitted, ease of submission and how the claim is handled that we really know how good the cover and the insurance company is.

We haven’t had to make a claim and whilst happy with the level of cover, price and what we have purchased cannot recommend any company.

Insurance in Kibris is a far cry from what you would expect in UK.
Fully comprehensive car or bike insurance is expensive.
The police visit scenes of accidents and rule who is responsible. There is no ifs or buts . If you’re an ex pat then be aware.
Car repairs are cheap. 3rd party is very cheap and perfectly adequate in my view.
On house insurance.
It’s paper pushing and once again police have the power of decision if burgled. Acts of god are not insured. Contractor quality for repairs is anyone’s guess.
Just remember this is a Cyprus.

Pay your money take your choice.

I’m not so sure about that.

TRNC third party insurance policies have a ceiling to their cover. Be found responsible for an accident and if the third party cover ceiling is inadequate in respect of the claim one could be pursued for the difference.

ESTA insurance state…
Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Law 1954 or any law amending or substituting the same.

Limits Of Liability: Limits of the amount of the Company’s liability under.

Article 1(c) and 2(c) (Liability to Third Parties- property damage) in respect of any one claim or series of claims arising out of one event 75,000 TL
Azant say this on their website…
…any expenses above that 75000 TL of damage would be your responsibility in the event of an accident.
75,000 TL is approx 3,112 GBP. That won’t go far towards repairing a half decent whack to a newish vehicle, even in the TRNC.

I know that Trevor at Capital bank are tops when it comes to a claim as i have done work with him and he has gone over and above for claims. Even passing claims that most other companies would not. In my eyes he the person who i would trust in all cases

Fair comment.
Drive carefully. You must also learn to drive whilst using a mobile phone, lighting a cigarette, and turning right.
All at the same time!!

I’ve had 2 small incidents in some 10 years
One recently….apparently my fault but that was totally because other party was local !! Absolutely fuming over the injustice!!
I repaired minor damage to my bike. £80
Tatty old Mercedes got repaired under my insurance.
I was told to go to garage xyz. Make a statement of liability. That was it. No communications with insurance companies. Nothing. Relatively pain free.

I’m amazed in this modern world how risk is marketed and how much you pay to indemnify the what if.
