Looking for a large taxi for Ercan from Karaoglanoglu, I've been quoted £40, is this about right?

The £40 transfer fee from Ercan is what the majority of companies are charging.

Whether it’s a fair charge or not could be debated.

For a family or group plus luggage, at anytime of the day pick up and a stress free, relaxing door to door service, is it unreasonable?

I think some people need to sit down with a pen and paper and work out the true cost of running a motor vehicle . In my company we based it on 3 years . Inc. Tyre's repair and service costs insurance tax petrol/diesel depreciation etc. etc. Absolutely everything we spent on a particular vehicle within that period. Then divide by the mileage .

You will then realise just what a bargain 40 pounds to Ercan is. All most people seem to think about is petrol money. Do the sums. Also you will find Private Hire/Taxi insurance a lot more expensive that standard insurance.

Well I did my sums as you suggested, no where near 1 GBP per 1 Km, BUT I do not drive a E220 Merc.

What I can not understand and maybe somebody can explain?
The charge is in sterling but fuel is in lira, Yes things have gone up but so has the rate exchange. I am not sure about public liability insurance which currency is charged in as full comprehensive is often quoted in sterling.

How about the unsociable hours. Its not easy work, E#specially if your doing a few thousand Klmts. each week. I beleive that 40.00 stg to Ercan in A nice car is very very good value.

I don't actually think, say, the £40 fare to Ercan is unfair - Indeed such a journey in the UK would cost significantly more, but justifying it with "everyday price hikes here" (obviously in TL) is clearly wrong, what with the fares being in sterling.

My point being we do not live in the UK, moreover why is the cost in GBP and not lira.

Maybe it makes sense to some degree for it to be in sterling as many tourists using the service are coming from UK so have sterling. Doesn't really matter, you pays your money you takes your choice.... I don't consider it expensive at all. Just been to Turkey, just over an hour trip from airport 70 quid each way.... just sayin.....

I live 60 kms from Gatwick and I am charged £55 which includes a £5 drop off fee charged by the airport. The fare has not increased for several years and I'd also like to point out fuel is far more expensive in the UK.

Normal taxi as you leave the airport, used them several times, Yellow Cab co. Cost is alway about the same.

Just back myself I paid 380TL maybe I was a little nearer to airport
All yellow cabs use a meter so no over charging and I used a lot of cabs
