Is it possible to get cash back from supermarkets?

Many years ago we used to get cash back using our debit card, from the till at the supermarket. Astro in Girne and Lemar too. Do the supermarkets still offer this service? Thanks

I doubt it as it costs them between 1.3% to 1.8 % per card transaction and it is recorded as a sale of goods which may also incur taxes to be paid by them

Yes you can but exchange rates not normally as good as banks or exchange offices

Thankyou for the replies. I would only go to a supermarket if I couldn’t get money from a bank ATM. This happened recently. Tried to get lira from 3 ATMs without success. I never use ATMs that aren’t attached to a bank. The bank also has to be open. Incase my card is swallowed ! So I can go in and tell them I want my card back !
