Went to get our residency renewed today, arrived 0930 finished 1030, smooth operation, well done
The problem was, last year when we went my wife (56 last year) me 60+ were offered 2 years, didn't have enough cash on me so opted for one year. Went this year fully armed with lots of dosh and the man behind the counter would only let my wife have one year, when I asked for two he said yes I could have two but not my wife as she was not 60!!!!!
Came away disappointed but can't complain as he obeyed the current rules
Current rate 227TL each for one year plus 9TL stamp

Did you have to go to the police station first?

My wife had to go through the police and hospital experience but I didn't (although I accompanied her)
I just took my paperwork with me this morning and handed it over and filled in a form that I was given, then paid the money.
For me it was a one stop easy process, and could have been my only visit for two years as well

Good to know the new system continues to work! You will be glad to know the next BRS push will be to see if we can get the age range lowered a bit more - then your wife will not have to "walk alone". But dont start getting excited anyone - you know how long these things take!!!!!!!!!!

So pleased about the push for the age issue. I am 57, have been married to my husband (65) for most of my life, and feel absolutely insulted by having to have an annual STD test. I have not renewed my residency this year, and shall continue not to until I am 60 or am not subjected to this human rights abuse.

I would like to thank the BRS for their efforts.

I Totally agree with Hippocampus the whole residency blood test thing is totally unnecessary and has damaged the T.R.N.C`s economy, as soon as it is scrapped the better. I`m well under 60 and contrary to one of the politicians ramblings (who thinks any ex pat under 60 doesn`t contribute) I have contributed a lot to the economy of the north since I`ve been here ( ten years) but I can`t see me putting up with this every year.

It`s a massive insult to all ex pats under 60 and has changed my views on he T.R.N.C. completely.

Hallfull, can I ask what papers your wife took with her to the police station. We are about to do our 2nd yr application and are not sure what we need to take with us.
Thanks
