New Kibtek Prices

Can anybody - Kibtek included - make any sense of the new prices guide? Loads of information in the Yeni news but as I never changed to the new price system some time back, there is no information on how it effects the original system!

For sure it is all going up but by how much per Kw is anyone’s guess at the moment!

Wanderer, about the only things I can see that effect my Tarif 2 (Housing) is the fixed charge increase and a KWh raise of between 0.25 & 0.75 per KWh - maybe! Plus, of course, the more you are charged then the more VAT will be added? Which KWh attracts which rise is quite beyond my understanding and I guess I will only find out what it was on the 1st of September - lol. I believe the answer is, as always, It is the way!

Figured it out! My own fault as I missed the price rise on the 1st of July - that now displayed on my bill so all back to normal till the next bill - seems like the tariff I am on had a price rise last month and the other kind of tariffs get there's this month. Of course there is also a service charge increase from this month so I will wait - but not hold my breath - and see what happens next month.

Love it here, every day is a new adventure - lol.

well, yes, you are right.
end of juli was a rise for the minimum wage which usually causes a price rise not only for electricity.
so, the last rise for the minimum wage was up from approx 11500 net to 15800 TL.
one kWh in the cheapest (first 250 kWh) tariff 02 was 1,93 lira and now is 2,19 lira.
250 to 500 was 3,99 and is now 4,55. and so on.
basically electricity is now, in relation to the wages, cheaper as it was before.
and, when you compare the prices and exchange rates from, eg, 3 or 6 month ago, it is significantly cheaper.
eg, in april 2023 the exchange to the euro was 21 and the price in lowest tariff was 2,1 TL incl vat = 10 eurocent.
new price august 2023 is 8 eurocent. this is a bloody bargain, and far too cheap!

for info : average use per household in UK is approx 3800 kWh electricity = 315 kWh per month. (but no cooling or heating included)
UK: standing charge 10 - 15 GBP
as lowest tariff 2 in TRNC is 250 kWh per month, we calculate 250 only, kWh price in UK: 0,34 GBP (which equals, today, to 12 lira per kWh) = 85 STG + the 15 standing charge = 100 STG

TRNC: standing charge 1(one!) GBP.
for lowest tariff 0-250 kWh the new price is 2,2 TL + VAT = 2,64 TL per kWh x 250kWh = 660 TL or 19 GBP + 1 for the standing charge = say 20 STG per month.

for 500 kWh total consumption per month in TRNC you pay 35 GBP extra = 55 GBP in total, for another 250 (total 750 a month) you pay another say 40 GBP = 95 GBP.
In UK you would pay 0,34 x 750 + 15 = 270 GBP.

so, if anybody complains about "kibtek not working good" or "the unions" or powercuts or the dirty stuff which comes out of Teknecik....... the price is the reason.

Kibsolar1999, not complaining about the cost at all, you get what you pay for and we pay for cheap electricity when it is available! I was only trying to figure out the continuing mystery of the bills and the tariffs is all. To link the prices to the minimum wage is, in my mind, not only cruel but smells of the spoon and the ladle that TRNC is so often subjected to!

Yes it is a lot cheaper we looked at last July's bill and this years

last July 1023 units = 3633 TL exchange rate Monday 1 August 2022 21.78 TL = £166.80

this July 1143 units = 4907 TL exchange rate Monday 1 August 2023 34.50 TL = £142.23

So we used 120 more units this year and saved £24.57

I am surprised the prices aren't linked to the US$ or Euro as I am sure the fuel prices have to be paid in these currencies...when that happens prices will rocket....

the price is somewhat openly communicated, set by a "commission" and divided in several "sections", one is the "buying price and exchange rate", for fuel, spare parts the lot, others are wages, and so on.
so, some part of the price is linked to the dollar, others to TL.

the price is low because the fuel used is basically the cheapest available, wages are payed in TL and investment seem to be low as well.
