Moving to UK

I have sold my bungalow and would like to know do I still have to get residency renewal if I am not coming back to trnc.

If, for whatever reason, you are leaving the TRNC and NEVER returning after your current residency has expired you will be subject to a fine upon leaving the TRNC. If you do not pay that fine before you leave then should you ever return to the TRNC - even via a crossing point from the RoC - you will have to pay DOUBLE the amount of the original fine!!! That is the current law as I understand it.

However, I do know that some people who have left, never to return and have not paid their fine prior to leaving have returned after a period of three (3) years and with a letter saying the same from the TRNC Representative Office (https://tbd-uk.com/bloomsbury/social-se ... ive-office) in London have returned without having to pay any fines!

What else they had to do, apart from show the letter upon entry and argue their case, I do not know.

Do you mean that if your residency has expired at some point THEN sometime later you leave that you are liable to a fine (similar to the fine imposed if a visitor overstayed their 30/60/90 day permission when they entered)?

Surely if you leave permanently BEFORE your current residency expires with the intention never to return then there would be no penalty.

Your residency has expired!
Are you are now living here illegally? Will you be fined if you are found out?
Would you be found out if you tried to cross into the RoC or leave from Ercan?
Would you be fined a days minimum wage for every day that you lived here illegally?
Can you refuse to pay the fine and still leave?
If you leave without paying the fine will you be fined again if you ever return?

Your residency has NOT EXPIRED!
You can leave or stay it is up to you!

There should be better Countries to escape from the TRNC other than the UK. Last 5 weeks only 4 dry days, the rest rain, wind & cold autumnal feel. Expensive, flavourless all red and white supermarket meats, farmed fish etc. All a big let down, one beef joint label read; 'Includes added water for tenderness' ?!!!!

To give some balance, we spend on average 6 months in the TRNC and 6 months in the U.K. We enjoy both places for different reasons.

The TRNC for the weather, people, food, the history, exploring and finding quiet hidden gems away from the tourists and the relaxed way of life.

The U.K. for family and friends, the diversity of the seasons, the scenery, culture and exploring the many beautiful places. For such a small country it has some fantastic scenery.

Both have pros and no doubt minuses, plus each has there own frustrations. To many to really list.

The weather is the weather and the U.K. will always be wet, windy, cold etc but it can also be beautiful despite the weather. You cannot beat a a good summers day in the U.K. Yes we use supermarkets…. A large German one springs to mind! However; we buy meat from local butchers and vegetables from our nanny farm shops, living near the coast in Devon our fish is freshly caught. It’s personal choice where to buy the weekly shop.

It’s the best of both worlds which we love.
