Re: Ercan airport
I arrived last night flight over an hour late trying to get out of Istanbul
The amount of hotel casino pick ups was phenominal never seen so many more than double the old Ercan
Old Ercan leave front and rear of plane
New Ercan shuffle off the front evetual
Route march through airport
but all on the flat no stairs
Old Ercan Passport control over ran
New passport control quick
Old Ercan Baggage quick
New baggage slow

Re: Ercan airport
We flew out from there yesterday no problems at all. Very smooth check in, passport control, boarding. Yes there are some issues still like escalators not working from underground carpark, which was very easy to find. So, there are negatives, but overall very good experience. Journey back, we will wait and see, but for the moment impressed with it.

Flew into Erçan last Sunday no problems at all. Might have been a better day. Hopefully flying out next week will be just as easy. I would have liked to have seen either a, automated passport control or b, more immigration officers as 4 was insufficient but then still quicker than some airports.

Re: Ercan airport
I'm talking about picking up, the car park was in darkness, wires and cables everywhere, escalators not working, no signage and because no one wants to pay for the car park, there were cars everywhere and people everywhere because you can't go inside the terminal

Re: Ercan airport
If you picking someone up & want to meet them in arrivals. Enter through Departures & go down to Arrivals. Massive arrivals Hall. Nobody there. They are are all cramped outside!

Re: Ercan airport
That's what I used to do at the old Ercan terminal - you had to go through the metal detector, but once you'd been checked, you could go anywhere

Re: Ercan airport
And so, after I reported earlier in the thread about good experience departing from the new Ercan airport, I can now report on the arrivals experience. Lo and behold, it was very good. Not perfect of course but early days still. Passport control absolute doddle, OK quite a way from the gate but good to stretch your legs after sitting on planes. Got through in 1 minute, but, OK might be worse if a few planes come together but no different to any international airport. We flew from Adana, which I have to say is the absolute pits and hope never to experience that again, so maybe the new airport when we landed just felt so much better. Baggage came off quickly. Signage could be better and yes room for improvement but let's look at the positives. Had a bit of banter with the chap on the carpark gate, I think he was almost afraid to say the price for 8 days probably due to abuse he has been getting. It does no harm to smile and treat people as human beings rather than abusing them for doing their job . Told him it's still cheaper than taxi which it was Yes, problems with lighting and escalators down to underground carpark, but hey ho, we got on with it. All in all a good experience which I am sure will only get better.

Further to the above, departure yesterday morning was smooth, even though the flight was delayed due to the peasouper fog. Again, could have done with more Pasaport Kontrol officers if they insist on segregation of Military, TC and Other Citizens. Restaurant offering was pretty dire considering other outlets were not open. Even the staff there didn't seem to know what they were doing and took 4 of them and another passenger translating to sort out where my toasted Helim and Tomato sandwich had gone - which was nice.
