Hi Everyone,
Just arrived to our apartment and popped the air con on and water is literally pouring out of it and down the wall and settling on the floor tiles. I've turned it off and it's still leaking i assume the excess water. Any ideas what the issues is assume I'd need an engineer? It's an arcelik one several years old. Thanks in anticapion.

The unit needs a good clean. The evaporator gets very dirty and the drain pan underneath it gets blocked usually with a jelly like substance. This pan should collect the condensate that drips from the evaporator and sends it outside via the drain line. When it's clogged up water will drip from the unit onto your walls and floor. Cleaning is not a difficult job when the outer plastic cover is removed. When doing a clean and removing the cover you are not interfering with the refrigerant gas. The electric obviously needs to be turned off. The cover is normally removed by removing screws at the bottom which are generally hidden by small plastic covers. The top of the cover generally hooks on at the top. The job can be messy so it's worth putting plastic on the wall. The aircon people hang a bag over the unit to collect the dirt and the cleaning fluid that they spray onto the evaporator coils. Unless the unit is not cooling after a clean there is no reason to think there is an issue with the aircon refrigerator gases.

Thank you for the replies about the fault. It's really appreciated. Does iceman have an email address? I'm on a UK phone and calling him is a £1 a minute. Is he on what's app?
Cheers

thepotter - His son Efe definitely is - 0090 542 868 90 66

If you want to try Iceman himself on Whatsapp, add him to your Contacts app (with 009 before the leading zero) and just try it - it will either work or it won't :)

EDIT: those two numbers look suspiciously similar apart from Iceman's being Turkcell and the son's being Telsim!

Over the years I've noticed many firms have the same 7 digit endings on both networks..
