Had knee drained and supposedly a cortisone at kamigolu hospital 4 months ago. Cost 90 pounds sterling. Draining helped considerably but the kneedle was useless .
Also just had cortisone in the UK on the NHS . Lasted about a week. .
Needq new knee now. Around 6k for knee op here depending on a few factors

The criteria for me in the UK was that even though I had an x-ray clearly showing I needed a new knee . They always go down the same route by corrsone injunctions first which means you will probably have 1 or 2 then get reassessed . Delay after delay. Then wait for surgery for many months if not longer

Depending how deteriorated your knees are,if not too bad injections last maximum of 4/6 weeks. If bone on bone no matter what pain killers or injections you have they are worse than useless. These are words from the surgeon that did a knee replacement for me.

If you are prepared to pay the initial Consultation Fee and any add ons(x rays etc.) at a Private Hospital and get a referral from your GP, you can go as an NHS patient in a Private Hospital. Bearing in mind Consultants who partake(and they are only allowed to do so many ops per year) will only be in certain hospitals, you can see how long their waiting lists are and dependent upon how long you have been waiting, you can choose where to go.

I had a hip operation in a private hospital July 2023 as an NHS patient, was given the choice through Choose & Book where both NHS gave a date and the Private hospital gave a date and the Private hospital was shorter. That was April 2022 to see Consultant and I was given date of March 2023 but due to illness was postponed until July 2023, full hip operation. 3 day stay in hospital.
2 follow up Consultations and 8 sessions of physiotherapy. I paid nothing towards any costs.

I have a neighbour who went to KIMs hospital in Maidstone Kent (his choice) in May 2022 and was in their hospital in August 2022 full hip operation. Initial Consultation payment was £300. 4 day stay in hospital. No more to pay dealt with by NHS.
Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.
