Western Union money transfer problems

I have been trying to transfer money via western union/post office to iktisat bank. It’s my first transaction and I can’t seem to complete it. I only get so far and the message pops up “we couldn’t complete your transfer” No reason given. Anyone else have this problem ?

Hi, I had that problem transferring money the other way around. I rang them and they did it for me, but it was just a technical problem. Give them a ring and see if they can help.

Yes, had same problem.
Ended up transferring the money to my daughter's UK account and she transferred it here successfully. She was actually in TRNC when she did it. I wanted her to do another but we couldn't get it to work.

Same problem for me, but did eventually get it to work on app which was free for first time use. I tried again several times, and all of a sudden the fee has jumped to £24.90! I've emailed them and still waiting a response. Looks like I will have to call them.
I also checked the t's and c's and you have to wait 3 days before doing another transaction. I thought this was 3 days after doing online transaction, it's not, it's 3 days after pick up.

After several attempts I managed to complete the transaction. Only to receive an email asking for more I.D. Passport and a bill with my U.K. address. Had to resend three times at their request. Have heard nothing back. So I emailed the customer support and am waiting for the reply. I only want to transfer money without being charged a huge amount by the banks here and in Türkiye.

kedikat I tried to transfer using Western Union from my UK bank to my Cyprus bank got to the final part of the process when my UK bank froze my account citing security concerns. A very stressful time trying to sort it out from here so have given up with Western Union and used Turk bank instead.

Thanks for the information Medjoul1. Does Turk bank charge a lot for transferring money from U.K. to here ? I was charged a lot when I used Credit West. It was the intermediary bank in Türkiye that charged the most. £12.50 Credit West and over £60 by the intermediary bank

Suggest TEB, money arrives within hours, pay charges from UK bank works out about £20 for initial charge then small charge for moving it here.

kedikat, it's £10.00 for up to £3,000 or was. The money goes through Turk bank Uk and there is an account number that they recognise to forward it to TRNC or some such sourcery. There is an English speaking rep. At my nearest Turk bank, Alsancak.

The cost varies, depending on the amount you want to send, I send £3,000 at a time and it cost about £30, if you send less the % charge increases slightly.
