You are lucky to get close to one, I have a very poor picture of one I saw years ago and failed in my creeping up technique to get close enough. Wonderful birds.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

We'd just left home in Ozankoy, my husband spotted it, looked like it may have been in shock which may be why it didn't move.

Forestpixie, I would have been in shock as well if I had seen your husband coming towards me, especially if he had his Dracula face on.

Download the Merlin bird ID app by Cornell Lab, it'll identify the bird call.

Is it the Black Francolin Partridge? We hear them in the fields on the Karpaz. Difficult to spot though.

Now that's definitely what I am hearing lots in Tatlisu. Didn't have a clue what it was, so thank you.Pamuklu Blue wrote: ↑Fri 10 May 2024 9:59 pmIs it the Black Francolin Partridge? We hear them in the fields on the Karpaz. Difficult to spot though.

Funny, I have always known them as French or Red Legged Partridges, we have plenty of them around us, often in the garden
