Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Consider getting rid of the expansion vessel and existing switch and fitting an electonic switch. This is the modern way to control the pump. Also it may not be the switch. You could have a leak big enough so the pump will never make pressure and satisfy the switch. Also, you can check the rubber bladder inside the vessel, these do fail but are easilly replaceable.

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Mikek, just visited our local yapi. The cost of the electronic one was 690 tl. It does away with the tank and offers protection that your current system does not. If the electronic one seneses that when it runs it is not making pressure it will shut down and show a red light. Installstion is simple. Remove existing expansion vessel with switch. Screw the new sensor ( pressure controler) in place. There are two cable entries on the side of the controller. One is the feed to the pump. The other is the supply to the controller. That cable / wires may confuse but please give me a shout if i can help

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Hi Thornaby, thanks for your advice. We have only last year changed to an expansion vessel. Before that the pump was going on all the time because it sensed the tiniest leak from cistern which was corrected then started again. We got fed up with it & changed to the expansion tank which coped with it well up to now. I think the switch just needs the right adjustment for on/off which with trial & error I’m not able to do.

Try a non return valve on top of the controller.

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Hi Thornaby. is it the type that fits in line above the pump outlet, or is it something new and more hi tech? Many thanks.

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Hi chelsea, good plumbing practises would fit a isolation valve in between the controler and the supply to the house. Assumming this valve is a good shut off, closing it off will tell you if the iissue is a leak downstream of the valve or an iissue with the controller itself.

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Why don’t you call out a plumber and do it professionally. If there is a leak or a swap come from the tank it needs replaced. Easy really and if not now it will one day

Re: Expansion vessel switch not turning off pump
Mikek yes it fits inline. A non return vale is built into the controller but not a problem leaving the existing one there as well. Installstion not difficult. Definetly a diy job for many. Pipework could be a problem if going from the expansion tank to the electronic controller if you dont have the tool to alter the pipes. An easy fix is to use flexible pipes.
