Many years ago I ran the Istanbul marathon to raise funds for Ismail who caught his arm in his dad’s bakery. Then he had cancer in the arm.
I understand recently that his dad was killed in a traffic accident.
Johnny Lee was a supporter.

I just wondered if anyone was looking out for them.

Bootsie!

It's been a long time...

Still in Portugal?

I've not heard anything about Ismail for quite a while - the last post about him on here was about 10 years ago, so he would be 21 years old by now. (see here)

Johnny Lee, who helped raise awareness (and money) for Ismail, still posts on here occasionally, although I haven't seen him for ages - perhaps he might have some info.

Hello Keith, yes still in Portugal after 8 years.
I heard from Yasmin saying that Ismails dad was killed in a road traffic accident while on his bike and that Ismail was trying to do Uni and keep a job to support his family. I just wondered if he was getting any support.

Yes Ismails father was killed last year in a traffic accident . He was knocked off his Bycycle whilst travveling to the mosque to pray for Bayram. We had been to see them just prior to this tragedy. I still try to help them when possible also I know Yasin does . My very close friends from Ireland also help when they can.

Ismail has grown in to a fine young man. A wonderful family. But of course this has devestated them and totally changed their lives. Everything had just started to run alittle smoother for them then this tragedy occurred. I am no longer in a position to fund raise, Obviously times and economy have changed here with many people unable to cope with horrendous daily inflation also almost all of my Ismails support team have either passed away or left the Island.

If anyone would like to help the family it would be most welcome. I could simply pass on Yasins or Ismails bank information any moneys could be sent directly. Funnily enough I was just in the process of contacting Yasin to transfer some funds from myself for Bayram for the family.

Actually it was just about 12 months since his father Cemal was killed. A nicer man you could not wish to meet. One very sad thing is that only the day before on the Thursday I had sent Cemal some money for Bayram. Yasin sent it for me to his Bank. Im not into online stuff.

That money is now locked in Cemals bank account until such times the legal system sorts everything out. malcolm ( Loose Boots) you are most welcome to speak to Yasin or myself regarding Ismail because probably unfortunatley most of this forums members would not even know about Ismail.

I spoke with Yasin yesterday evening when I sent their Bayram money. He said you do have his contact details. Also Malcolm hopefully you are enquiring in order to help the family. Please feel free to send a donation to Yasin. I know it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I often wonder why the person raising the initial question cannot say thank you or acknowledge the replies provided. Pesonally when ever I have aksed for advice or information I always thank and acknowledge the people taking the time to reply and offer help.

B.B. I call it lack of manners. It takes a few seconds to say thank you. Or at least aknowledge.
