From this autumn, those not on pension credit or other means-tested benefits will no longer get the annual payments worth between ยฃ100 and ยฃ300.
How reasonable, friendly and accommodating the British people are. Imagine for a moment living in a democracy where the politicians can take away from those who have spent their lives toiling for their country and give to those who have contributed nothing and to be able to do this comforted by the thought that British' pensioners will not protest, or resort to turning cars over in the streets. Most of them may not even rattle their Zimmer frames in anger and disgust.
Imagine being able to take away from someone whose glasses are held together with a sticking plaster in order to give to those who sport the most expensive pairs of sneakers and use the latest mobile phone.
If saying this makes me a racist then I accept that label. What does surprise me though is how nice, reasonable, well mannered, helpful and intelligent racists are. I didn't realise. I thought that being a racist was something to hide and be ashamed of, but apparently, it isn't. It's just another label for having common sense.
I realise now why the UK won't agree to direct flights to Northern Cyprus. It's because Northern Cyprus have got their immigration policy right. They only let in affluent people who are an asset to their economy whereas the UK let in anyone and everyone who then put a strain on the economy and resources of the UK. No wonder the UK doesn't allow direct flights to Northern Cyprus, if they did, it will be too easy for the British to jump on a plane and escape the degradation, unfairness, carnage, traffic jams and cr*p weather and come to enjoy a never ending holiday, just like the rest of us who were intelligent enough to realise that the UK is finished !

Food for thought, What you haven't mentioned is all the UK taxes we pay when living out here and never benefit from, including to the lazy 3rd generation benefit grabbers who don't have any intention of lifting a finger.

Did not get the chance to vote so don't blame me, I voted to stay in the EU, but that's another story - enjoy the 16 hours a day you are allowed to take your car South - we left the UK for a reason and yes we still get taxed at source on all our income from there and that doesn't matter which party is in power! We knew that would be the case when we left, no surprise and our choice! I find it strange that the Winter Fuel Payments being stopped has produced a thread on here - we don't get any winter fuel payment but then we are not in the UK, so we should not get it anyway. As for direct flights, there has never been any direct flights to here so anyone who came here after 1974 must have known that before they came, if they are so important, why come here. If you live here why not just embrace the country you live in and forget about what might have been? Just be content with your lot and have a happy life.

I'm still to get my state pension but wasn't expecting to get winter fuel payment here. I do expect my parents to get it though, and it looks like this year they won't.
It's ridiculous that UK don't take a tougher stance with illegal immigrants and just deport them like they do here. Then perhaps they can look after those living there legally, whether they be UK citizens or legal immigrants.

Meanwhile Ed Milliband has committed ยฃ11.6 billion of taxpayers money to international climate finance, whatever that is! Robbing the pensioners to send the money abroad.

Thatโ€™s sad when our president has only managed 33 trips abroad in the last three years! I bet Australia was nice though so it kind of makes up for it.

At least it won't bother the thousands that died in carehomes and on hospital waiting lists, so there is that I suppose.

So if itโ€™s freezing this year all the old people that donโ€™t believe in hand outs will now freeze. I watched a program on tv about a British ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง co still running there tankers full of Russians oil to Europe and ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง . So we are giving Ukraine millions to fight off Russians and giving them money to support their war. Is this not crazy ๐Ÿคช

I donโ€™t know if you can get GB News but this is Nigel Farage show from 19:00 - 20:00 he discusses everything that has gone on in U.K. past couple of days, including now Winter Fuel Allowanceโ€ฆan ex Labour guy maintains Pensioners donโ€™t need WFA as they are all well off, donโ€™t need and Pensioners are doing very well. They talk about it around 19:38 if you want to scroll on.

I suspect the triple lock will be next to be taken away.

I'm a GBN watcher and member, and I'll fight to the last to allow the company to tell it like it is. I'm sick to the death of BBC bias . All the news re Hugh Edwards is reprehensible and the fact they were aware he had been arrested and still continued to pay him plus bonus. It surprises me not one jot that other organisations are trying to get GBN shut down. There are a few contributors that I can't get attuned to but I put their views down to youth and lack of experience of life. Re triple lock. That is going to be hard for some of us here as the pay increases in the TRNC are rising quicker than the Pensions received from the UK. Particularly when it is becoming cheaper to shop in Lidl etc than it is in most supermarkets here.

The current "baby boomer" older generation are , I'm afraid, destined to be taxed and taxed again. 30 yrs ago each pensioner was supported by 4 working people. Now , I understand the ration to be 2 workers to each pensioner. Not very tenable. The numbers of claimants on welfare has doubled since 2016. work is just not fashionable, Working tax payers are being bled . Working for a living needs to be encouraged forcibly if necessary and make work pay.
The disparity between public sector workers and private sector workers in particular end of service lump sums , pensions and pay outs is unfair.
The private sector pays for the the entire public sector. The UK private sector economy must be supported , attractive for investment , like it or not the wealthy bring wealth to the UK. The government plans to inordinately tax billionaires simply drives them offshore.

Is Britain BROKE? Its certainly in turmoil and the credit card is maxed out. A socialist government is no answer in my view. However much of the world as we know it seems to be charging into oblivion. Climate change, war, religious domination, famine , elitism , migration, the rise of xenophobia, the unjust distribution of wealth.

I wonder how much the human race can actually extract from this planet

https://redfieldandwiltonstrategies.com ... s-gb-news/ Interesting reading! Having not been in the UK for over 17 years, I am interested to see what has changed, guess I will find out later this month but canโ€™t say I am looking forward to it that much - lol. Nobody ever said that life would be easy but it seems to be so long as you are rich. If your not rich then you must just be careful.

Waddo, when you say people who came here in the past and now want direct flights, I think, certainly what I refer to, are the days when you stayed on the same plane, maybe change seats or get off the plane, walk through transit and back on to a plane. It wasn't a direct flight as such, but it sort of felt like it. I've never actually been able to fathom out why that couldn't continue. Something to do with UK not trusting TRNC security or something.?

BJB, Ah the good days when you "Pretended" to get off and get back on again - once even we did not have to do that and came straight here - don't know how that worked or why but maybe it was just a finger in the air to the authority and we were lucky. Never did mind getting off, stretching the legs and getting back into the same seats or even staying on while it was refueled (dodgy business that) and must admit that having to change planes now must be a pain along with not having baggage transferred over and waiting another day for it to arrive. But you know where you live and I am happy with it as it is.

I can understand the Uk not trusting TRNC security but why do we have to disembark on the return journey when we have been screened by Uk security?
