Kibtek threat
All bills over 645 lira accounts will be turned off by the 4th . Do you reckon that includes all the hotels and government offices?

Of course not. Don’t be silly.
What happened when they threatened to cut off Ercan Airport? Sod all, that’s what.
It’s ludicrous, cut off a govt dept and get ordered to turn it back on.

Re: Kibtek threat
It's a message issued monthly by Kibtek and obviously only affects us mere householders. The warning is for previous bills, not the one just issued.

Yes, totally agree AM. I get it three or four times a year and delete it. As to asking about hotels etc. thats a pointless exercise. Takes me back to the old days when electricity would suddenly go off, and you find the the huge fuse in the box on the wall has been pulled out by someone and stuck in their own. Kibtek used to go round pulling out fuses of people who owed over 500tl I think it was, so they went and pinched someone elses. Only happened to me once.

BB I remember that happening with the fuses. Mine got taken by neighbours before I moved in, but it was taken to protect me....building workers were using my electricity for construction purposes and had a cable running from one of my windows. Workers just put in another fuse until neighbours kindly changed my door key, and that was an end to that.
Gates that should not have happened unless you had debt from before the current bill. I vaguely remember you mentioning you had a spot of bother recently with Kibtek. Can't test it out for you as I've already paid this bill, tend to do it within a couple of days receiving it or I'd forget. I always pay it online via Paypoint and get a receipt, although strangely enough, didn't get one emailed to me for this month.

Re: Kibtek threat
Strangely the bill you receive from kibtek is only for that months usage and doesn't cover any previous unpaid debt, recently we had power cut off all day and night, because we pay our electricity bill on time we assumed it was a power cut, next morning visiting kibtek office to see when it would come on, we were informed there was accrued debt from 6mths before we moved in that had accrued late fees that took us over the threshold for cut off.

Re: Kibtek threat
Thanks Kerry, I didn't know that. I've always managed to pay my bill in full each month. You would have thought any debt you had would be added on to current bill. I've been cut off twice years ago due to bank not paying the bill, so better left in my hands, even with my dodgy memory, at least I know it will be my fault, and not think there is a very long power cut.
