sky boxes

Am travelling out next Saturday with my container leaving on Friday, is it worth bringing my sky boxes with me. Will I be able to get sky?

Yes you can get sky here if you bring your box together with your viewing card. You will need a 1.8m dish or bigger, depending on what channels you want to watch (BBC I believe no longer works at all even on the bigger dish). You then carry on paying your subscription to sky but must have it under a UK address (they need to think you are in the UK). The person to contact here is Mustafa (the Iceman) and he can set it all up for you.

From what I hear, In order to obtain sky properly, you will need to import a satellite dish akin to the Jodrell bank telescope.
I don't have any TV here and don't miss it one bit.
Try going without for a while-you might find you quality of life improves no end.

if you have a good internet connection, you can log in thro' sky go if you set up in the uk, just link your computer to your tv

I agree with philoz.

Only problem is other half likes her TV so we have Digiturk. Plenty there to watch without the worrying about which channels Sky will cut off next, already BBC not available and possibly ITV and 4.

I would suggest bring your box and card and decide when you get here what you want to do, there is always a market for boxes anyway so may be able to sell it later. Also put anything in your container that will fit, you just never know what you may find useful and if you find them not useful there are plenty of options to sell later.

It was more to watch what has been saved than actually watching Sky, mind you hubby does like his sport but I suppose we will be able to get Aljarzeerah (spelling?).
