Chlorinated chicken from the USA. .if we get a trade deal.... will certainly be on the quality and health agenda.
There not still trying to flog that old nonsense are they?

Chlorates are regularly found in lots of food stuffs including drinking water.
Fruit and veg often contain levels of chlorates above recommended levels.

In the US the raw chicken carcass is rinsed with hypochlorus a weak acid that forms when tiny amounts of chlorine are dissolved in water to remove harmful bacteria. Europe doesn't follow this process but it is based on sound scientific research and is considered standard practice in the industry.
The New Zealand (the current world darlings) Food Safety Agency concluded that no safety issues were identified.

You need to something to reduce food poisoning and the chlorine treatment reduces the incidence of salmonella from 14% to 2% in America.
EU samples were found to contain between 10-15% salmonella levels.

The banning is purely a protectionist political manoeuvre because the cost of imported US chicken is cheaper than that produced in the EU.

But if you believe in pixies and want to pay more for chicken to increase your chances of catching salmonella then you are free to do so. That's the joy of Brexit, we are free.

What a shame everyone helped Labour get Boris out. They knew if he would have got over COVID they would never get into power. So what did we do give them a helping hand. They all did the same thing but because Boris was on the stage he got the lot. Now look what we have. Would you go back if you could i know i would. Like lambs to the slaughter and we all went along with it. So really we ended up with what we deserved.

Covid ended up being used as a political weapon. Boris never had a chance really. He was extremely personally popular with the voters so Labour had to target him and given he was seen as the man that delivered Brexit all the pro EU MPs in his own party were out to do his legs.

The whole Partygate thing was exaggerated out of all proportion. There must have been a million funerals on the day of Partygate given the amount of people who said they couldn't attend a funeral that day because of the Covid restrictions.
Any government would have struggled with that crises and we are still feeling the economic effects of the lockdown

Apart from the big downside of no longer having free movement in the EU and now being subject to the 90-in 180-day rule (as in the TRNC), I am pleased to be out of the EU, looking at the economic and defence shambles that the EU leaders are making of it. The UK government and its political leaders just haven't taken good advantage of its position out of the EU.
