Most here in TRNC use Internet streaming via local ISP's

Indeed most access TV via internet, but some locals use a dish to get terrestrial TV from Turkey. WOuld suggest someone like Tektan is your best bet https://www.facebook.com/TEKTAN.CO.LTD/ if you don't do Face Book Tel no's

As you're in Alsancak, you could ask HayPem (opposite Green Petrol) to fit one for you - they fitted one for me a while ago - can't remember price!

The English language 'entertainment' type content is extremely limited, and UK programmes are almost non-existent unless you use a decoder and subscribe to specific services such as Bein Sports etc.

I believe that there are individuals here who can supply links to 'Pirated' services, but I've never used them.

I got a satellite dish simply because I like 'tinkering about' with stuff - to actually 'watch TV', I use the internet :)

You can find a general guide to Satellite reception in Cyprus here, and a Satellite directory here,

As you will probably end up using the internet anyway, perhaps you would be better off spending your money on a set-top box such as this - there are Internet Providers who allow you to put your subscription 'on hold' when you are not on the Island (for a small fee), and that way you would be all set when you do make the move - just my thoughts...

There are other set-top box suppliers of course, and you can probably buy a box cheaper in the UK & get it programmed to enable TV viewing once you are over here if you wanted to - I just can't see any point in spending money on a dish which will soon be redundant.

Lipoylush, or get an Amazon firestick and bring with you and take home again; will need a VPN to access UK channels.

I use a dish in Cyprus and in London. It is for the reception of Digiturk which transmits on Turksat at 42 Deg East. I ferry my Digiturk box between UK and Cyprus in my hand luggage. At the moment this service costs me about £16.50 a month. As part of this package I also get Internet with a speed of up to 15mpbs. There are some good movie and series channels plus BBC World Service and 2 other BBC entertainment channels. However, by far the most attractive channels for me are Bein Sport. They show a lot of live Premiership football including 3pm kickoffs in the UK !
