Re: Salad cream
I don't think the boat has landed for a while. I had someone bring three or four bottles over in their luggage from UK two weeks ago and they were from Tesco. Half the price of Heinz and I can't tell the difference.

Re: Salad cream
Ingredients:
2 eggs, hard-boiled, yolks only
2 tbsp English mustard
½ lemon, juice only
1 tbsp caster sugar
3 tbsp white wine vinegar
150ml/5fl oz double cream
150ml/5fl oz olive oil
salt and ground white pepper
Method:
Place all of the ingredients, apart from the oil and seasoning, into a food processor.
Blend until the cream starts to thicken then gradually add the oil, until the salad cream is smooth and emulsified.
Season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground white pepper.

Re: Salad cream
Thanks Groucho, I've passed on recipe to a friend who loves salad cream. I'm not keen myself, more into mayo. However those ingreds look and sound good together so I might give it a try. Funnily enough, I don't like lots of stuff that I used to use in UK, probably because I was forced to make them here, and home made is always so much better than processed.

We are trying very hard BB!benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Thu 29 May 2025 3:50 pmNow you're all trying to put me the shame but I'll give it a go after I've finished the Tesco I've opened. !!

As I said earlier, I really don't like much in the way of processed foods these days, and my body actually rebels against ultra processed. I do buy mayo, although do make it too.
Was in some supermarket recently and my friend pointed out frozen crumbed mozzarella sticks and told me not to buy, they were awful. We are both vegetarian and have similar taste in foods, other than salad cream. I always make my own crumbed cheese, since we couldn't get it here until fairly recently. Tried some back in UK and it was awful, so I'll stick to making my own, even though it's a faff, and I do prefer to use Camembert or Brie or even hellim.
