Advice needed regarding new Electric meter

Last Monday, I had a new meter fitted by Kibtek. I was told that it was state of the art, digital, but nothing else about it.I had a quick look after the fitters had left, but couldn't see a meter number or how to read it. However, this evening, my TC neighbour from opposite, rushed across to say that the meter was sparking! I opened the glass cupboard door, and there was a little red light flashing fairly regularly. Can anyone tell me if this is normal when I'm actually using anything electrical? Or is it something I should report? Obviously, now that I'm aware of it, I am a little concerned. Advice would be most appreciated.

The little red light is flashing this usually indicates that there is power at the meter and is being used, it is nothing to be concerned about, you may find the more power being consumed at anyone time the light may flash faster, so for instance you only have the fridge on it may blink once every 5 seconds, put on the electric cooke as well. it may flash every 3 seconds & so on
To read the unit there should be a square button, pushing this will give you a series of numbers, 1 will be the total units used, another may be the units on different tariffs,
I still have the old tripe myself but this how they work.

Many thanks ozonkoyboy, that's a relief to know. Strange thing, but not long after I posted, everything went black -- power off, and my first thought was, that my meter had blown up!! I soon found that street lights were off too, so went to bed in peace. Thanks again.
