House Insurance
Just had a quote for my house insurance. It has gone up by £800 for a year with same cover.
Anybody out there have a good insurance company they can recommend ?

Re: House Insurance
I think that you'll find that all Insurance companies have done the same.
The only way that you'll get it down is by opting out of the Earthquake cover which the TRNC Government appears to have 'added on' - possibly to help fund recovery in Turkey following the recent earthquakes there.
We're not actually sat on or near a 'Fault line' as far as I can make out, although the South have experienced a few instances of damage in the past.

My house insurance was the same as last year but I opted out of the extra for earthquake damage. Roughly 200 sterling. Capital Insurance

Can’t see the point of having it if no earthquake damage

Can’t see the point of having it if no earthquake damage
The answer is
It’s peace of mind…. just in case……. but each to their own...

Re: House Insurance
Hi All
In the above from Tanky I had excluded earthquakes cover and my house insurance renewal was still very high.
I did ask why and was told it was due to the government instructions for additional taxes etc. So the question is if mine has gone up that high how come some of the above remained the same Something is not right somewhere.
I am also having the swimming pool taken off as not many pools go on fire and if the pump goes it is no where near the cost of this horrendous increase. It may be because we have been with the same company for 22 years and they now think it is time to hit us. Only ever had one very small claim. I asked if the locals were having an increase like this and the answer was NO.

As you've been with them so long they assume you won't shop-around...

Two years ago I had contents removed from Insurance as it was cheaper to buy new. Yes shop around, loyalty means sod all, same as in UK.

Capitol Bank were the best rates when we changed 3 years ago and still seem to be the most competitive on price when I renewed last week
