Value of your vote

It just shows you how much your vote matters. Years ago the Palistilans voted in Hamas and look how that turned out. Just shows now looking back to the UK election are you proud of your vote. Look at the mess the UK is now in. Never learn do you

I think equating the 'Hamas' run voting system with the UK is a long stretch. If you know the politics of the middle east, they are rarely fair or transparent elections, with a clear element of intimidation thrown into the mix, especially based on your ethnic or tribal origins.

Regarding the UK, I am not sure what mess you mean: labour had a difficult task given the mess they inherited from the Tories, with little financial wiggle room, and only been in power a year. Has the chancellor made mistakes, of course, particularly on the benefits bill, but none as disastrous (so far), as Lettuce Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng, who both seemed to have disappeared from sight having caused utter financial misery for millions.

The alternatives are equally frightening: Kemi B (god help us) or Nigel Farage- when questioned about his new justice plans yesterday (£17bn), couldn't give a clear answer on funding, and on his plans to send UK nationals in prison to El Salvador, seemed to have no clue about the appalling human rights record of that country.

I agree the choices regarding politicians and parties in the UK is not great, but the system and all its faults beats many other countries hands down IMHO.

At least the U.K. can vote out their government, the choices admittedly aren't great but the Palestinians don’t have that luxury. Gaza hasn’t had an election since 2006. It would be interesting to see how they would vote if given the opportunity. Sadly I’m
not totally convinced they wouldn’t vote Hamas in again.

What’s worrying is the thought that they might vote Farage in! Boris in a bad suit! Can any of them, Boris the Brexit, Liz the Lettuce or even Nigel the bad teeth do a better job than the one they have now? Love the way people knock the UK Government in power, regardless of which party is in then happily take every handout (sorry benefits) that they can get! So it’s not some of the people some of the time anymore. What is the voting age in UK? At what age are persons declared an adult? There you have it! At age 16 you are still classed as a child - but you can have sex, yet you have to wait till you are 17 (still a child) till you can drive.

The worst government we have had and the one that has cost us billions or more is Labour Party. They bought in the bill to pay illegals and Blair sided with Bush to go to war and has cost so much money it is impossible to add up. That has been the worse lot now this lot is following in their footsteps

I get the picture! The Tory’s (as part of a coalition) came to power in 2010 and stayed there till 2024 under Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and obviously did nothing wrong! Now Starmer picked up the poisoned chalice and has held it for a year! He did this because the majority of the UK public voted him into power, in the same way that they voted for Brexit. If you did not vote for him, or even worse, we’re part of a large percentage of UK registered voters who could not be bothered to vote - then unlucky for you in the same way it is unlucky for me that the UK Government turned a referendum into a Government decision in order to remain in power! Suck it up because moaning about it will only make you angry and sad. If you need a good laugh read Wikipedia on the public image of Boris Johnson! Have a great day!

The majority of people didn’t vote for him but under the FPTP voting system he got elected. The Brexit vote was a 2 option vote where the majority did win. Starmer labour actually got less votes than Corbyn did when Bunter won the election by over 80 seats.

Bunter??? The UK voting system is the way it is to ensure MPs get jobs, I fail to believe that it has anything at all to do with what the voters want - lol. A bit like here only better hidden!

I think any politician has to compromise their own beliefs to a point to get into power as in they might be a committed unilateralist but realise that the people will never vote for that so to get into power & bring in other stuff they have to compromise on that no matter how sincere that belief.
Some politicians want power to change things and some politicians simply want power to be in charge. So far it seems as if Starmer just wants power and will change to whatever is popular in the latest poll.
But they aren’t a talented lot in general. Rachael from accounts would be out of her depth in a puddle. Lammy is a half wit and Angela Rayner seems borderline subnormal and like John Prescott is what upper middle class people think working class people are like.
However is in power is going to struggle in the aftermath of the economic catastrophe that was the Covid lockdown

Why is it that the UK is still blaming Covid, so long after. If you read on line newspapers around the world it does appear that other countries have picked their socks up and getting on with business, But not the UK its still winge, winge, winge.

Because it is suffering the double blast of Covid and Brexit - neither of which had a plan to start with!
