Minimum wage
Its been decided but secret until 10.30 monday...
I dont think in turjey they have even bothered to meet...
There has been articles in the papers alluding to the facts that the minimum wage here is higher than many eu countries and as a result trnc has lost its competitive edge...dont we know it...
The huge rises over the last few years have been due to populist political reasons rather than economic sense and are unsustainable...
Tatar and turkey will want to keep him in power and the election is just round the corner..be interested to see the outcome monday...i believe the automatic public service salary rise was c 17% ...

Re: Minimum wage
It’s just a dog chasing its tail. Inflation goes up, prices go up, the minimum wage goes up which makes prices & inflation to go up. Rinse & repeat.
Unfortunately the only way to bring down inflation is to face up to some pain in the short to medium term but it would be a brave government to do that as they would be successful in bringing down inflation but unpopular & the next government in would reap the benefit.

Re: Minimum wage
I wonder if in turkey there was a presidential election in october they might have called a meeting and increased the salary to...its almost double here compared to turkey...
Its hard for us to criticise the uk has 100 % debt to gdp paying huge goverment final salaries etc etc been living beyond its means for years...
At least trnc doesnt pay £153 per night to house 38000 asylum seekers while its ex military lie homeless on the street...then no muslim countries are that stupid...others could learn...
