Temperatures will be at their peak with lots of humidity. The lightest weight clothing possible. Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Natural fabrics such as linen, silk and cotton, definitely no man made fabrics.
Don't make the mistake of going down the cravat or tie and collar look, go for comfort with an open neck shirt, linen suit or jacket or even short sleeved shirt and slacks. Smart but informal style and comfort is the way to go.
Easier for the lady as stylish, pretty cool ensembles are easy to find. A fan is an invaluable accessory and a lightweight straw hat with a brim rather than a fascinatior provides shade and head protection in the fierce heat.
Hope it all goes well and yes remember to keep the non-alcoholic fluid intake up as Ozankoyboy mentioned.

All the advise above is good but remember your footwear, what fits good in the UK will probably not be comfortable here in August.

Buy some nice soft leather sandals one size more than your normal size as your feet will swell here in august. I find there is nothing worse than

shoes that are rubbing or are too tight.

Good tip about the shoes. I bought some very glittery heeled(2") flip flops for such occasions.
M&S do a linen that does not look like you slept in it. I find anything made from Viscose( it's an entirely natural fibre) lovely and cool and it drapes beautifully, even it the heat.

Personally, I find just turning up just dressed in my underpants, but wearing the obligatory 'British black socks' and brown leather sandals always cheers up an otherwise dismal gathering.

Definitely! They are like a small suspender belt (no, ask somebody else!) worn around the calf, to keep your socks up!
