Date requirements of residency visa

We have a query regarding the renewal of our temporary residency visas. We arrived on 21st February last year and got a 90 day visa, then got a temporary residency visa complete with pink book. In our passports and on the pink book, the date (which we assumed was the renewal date) was 9th May but now my husband has gone south twice and been told that we our residency visa is out of date and should have been renewed by 21st February. This doesn't make sense to us as we assumed that the dates in our passport and pink book, 9th May, would be the renewal date. Does anyone have any firm information about this? If so, we'd really appreciate some guidance on what's correct and what isn't. Thanks in advance for any info people may have.

It looks as if someone is reading the wrong visa. It does happen sometimes. But you need to go to the police Station or Immigraiton and show them your visa page. the pink book gets very little used. What does count is the visa page in your passport. There is obviously a misunderstanding somewhere, because the date on the visa is the one that counts. But really the best place to get it clarified is the Immigraiton Office in Nic osia, or at least talk to someone in the BRS who might be able to help you.

good luck.

Just looked at my passport. It says period of validity 16/9/2012 - 16/9/2013. There is also the date of issue below it. So it should be quite clear. When we got our first stamp the date of validity was set to the date we applied for residency and the date of issue was 3 months later (that's how long the process took then!).

The pink/blue book is only updated if you change address you have to take it to the police station and tell them.I have done it once.

My pink book is in a drawer and only reappears on renewal day. I agree with above, the date of renewal is on your residency stamp.
Also if you residency was out of date on leaving the country the first time you would have been fined 66tl for every day it was over, or double on reentry. There must be some confusion in the conversation at immigration.

We have sorted out what's going on <blush, blush>. My renewal date is 9th May and I've always looked at my passport to confirm dates. BUT for some reason my husband's renewal date was put at 21st February when we arrived instead of 9th May, same as me, we hadn't noticed the dates were different. What a couple of short-sighted dills, eh? But the first time customs picked up on the date for my husband, she issued him with another 90-day visa, so we'll renew the temporary residency just before mine is due. Talk about feeling like we're in Alice in Wonderland and falling down the rabbit hole with two different dates! But thanks for all the advice, folks, it's always good to know you can get so much help on this forum.

We noticed just as we drove away from immigration one year that the dates on my husband's new visa were wrong. We check the dates for accuracy every year now before we leave the building.

Be careful Mobray, I may be reading your message wrong but even if your husband has been given a 90 day stamp, the date on his annual residency stamp will still apply with regards to renewal. I would suggest you pop to the police station to double check.

Apologies again if I have misunderstood your last post.

Sorry, only just seen the last two replies. We got our renewals yesterday and all was well, slight query re the overdue renewal date but it was sorted out okay with no fines or anything, thank goodness.
