I have said for years these were not working; simply on the nutters on the Girne/Lefkosa road timed over distance section: same cars daily, taxis and minibuses. There was no way the system was working to let them do crazy speeds several times daily and keep their licences surely?Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı announced that a proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers to pardon accumulated penalty points due to notification delays, that the opinion of the Prosecutor's Office will be sought regarding the fines, and that the commissioning of Artificial Intelligence Traffic Cameras has been postponed due to a machine malfunction.
Minister of Public Works and TransportErhan Arıklı stated that various delays have led to difficulties in reporting traffic offenses over the past two years. He explained that these delays have resulted in the sudden notification of accumulated penalty points, leading to the suspension of driver's licenses for a period of time for many individuals who have reached their point limit.
For this reason, Arıklı announced that the Ministry will prepare a proposal to the Council of Ministers for the amnesty of point penalties, and noted that the opinion of the Prosecutor's Office will be sought on whether at least a portion of the accumulated fines due to delayed notifications can be forgiven.
On the other hand, Arıklı stated that there was a delay in the production and installation of the signs on the roads due to a malfunction in the machine that produces the warning signs necessary for the Artificial Intelligence Traffic Cameras to fulfill their functions, and for this reason, he announced that the Artificial Intelligence Traffic Cameras Era, which was planned to start tomorrow, has been postponed for a while in line with the proposal of the Police authorities.
Arıklı informed the public that the cameras placed on the roads will continue to serve only the same functions as the old cameras for a while longer, and will begin to fulfill their other duties after the warning signs are installed.

This is no incentive for any one to obey the speed limits or any other 'rules of the road'. In the same way those who don't register their workers, or those who don't do residency, wait for the next 'amnesty', pay some money and you're Off the hook. The difference with this speeding amnesty, is the government will not collect any monies at all
