Be aware that this ATM took my Revolut card in at 07:25 today and it still has it - inside! Banks are closed till Monday so I can not contact them till then. The ATM accepted my card, accepted my PIN then told me the transaction could not be completed and logged me out, card not returned! I had only just paid a bill in Erdener with the same card so it is not a fault of my card.
Beware of this ATM!!!

Good grief Gates, a lesson to be learned there to freeze your card immediately. Given the circumstances that it was eaten by the machine, you might have thought your card was safe from being used.
For years I only use an ATM attached to a bank, after a 3 week wait and numerous trips into Girne to get the damned card, which was the only one I had at the time. Another time at bank ATM card was eaten, whilst waiting inside the bank for someone to open ATM, someone came in with card that ATM outside had spat out after about 20-30 mins. I was lucky that the person was honest. I never thought for one moment to freeze my card at the time, so thanks Gates for the info, and I do hope that you get your money back.

Re: Card plus ATM - Erdeners
Swallowing my card has been a problem quite a few times over the last 15 years or so. I learned my lesson very early when one of the joint banks on the side of the road swallowed it and it took 6 weeks to retrieve it. I phoned up and bloke in TURKEY answered because the phone numbers on the side of the machine were Head Office. It took nearly 15 minutes for us both to realise that we were talking about two different LAPTA and KARSIAKA (?) Since then, I never use an ATM unless its attached to a Bank. In those days, I'm not sure if it was possible to freeze a card? It must happen a lot, cos last time it happened at Credit West they pulled out the tray and after a weekend of use there must have been at least 15 cards waiting to be collected. Some of the cards were totally unknown to me (as I shuffled around looking for mine)!!!!

Re: Card plus ATM - Erdeners
Final outcome! On Monday of this week I found out that the ATM (Cardplus) outside Erdener market is run by Near East Bank, the branch you need to visit is beside Soydan Petrol station on the rhs of the main road traveling from Erdener towards Girne! Take your full details, including ID or passport with you and pop into that branch, explain the problem to the cashier (I dealt with an extremely helpful, English speaking lady, in the first position on the far right as you enter the bank) then go back in 2 or 3 days to collect your card. Totally painless experience and very helpful bank to deal with. Just remember that it is not the cashiers fault that the ATM ate your card - it just happens and is part of life in Cyprus. I do understand that it can be traumatic to be without your sole source of funds for (in my case 5 days) if you have not planned for such a thing to happen - so be prepared, just in case! My main card was lost but I froze it immediately and used my backup card till it was returned - no problem! The trick is knowing which bank/branch operates the particular hungry ATM - lol.
