Our car is due its first MOT at the end of October .
We will be in the Uk and will not return until Spring 26 .
- can anyone confirm whether the online MOT site is accessible from outside the TRNC please
we are aware some are not.
- secondly should we have no option but to wait to complete the process on return, please can anyone tell us the up to date fine for late payment.
TIA

Re: CAR MOT
Customers tax their cars while in the uk so I do think the site is accessible. Unfortunately with the inspection it does have to be carried out within the set dates so unless a friend takes the vehicle, even if paid on time, I have noticed when the vehicle is due for tax, you have to pay the fine first.

Re: CAR MOT
As I understand it the fines for late MOT are not too onerous. If you can manage to pay online that at least proves intent. A friend would need to be covered by your insurance of course if that's how you plan to do it in the correct date slot.
It's totally bonkers that one can't preempt the date. They are hardly overworked VIN gazing...

Re: CAR MOT
Don’t pay online and not have your car MoT’d within the two week window - been there, done that. Fined (not a lot) and had to pay again for the (late) MoT.Groucho wrote: ↑Mon 15 Sep 2025 4:54 pmAs I understand it the fines for late MOT are not too onerous.
