He forgot to say that there are airports in the south that are built on Turkish land, but "maybe" being Greek they are exempt from legislation and being taken to court for illegal possession of stolen land

Nothing illegal in the South, all dead safe deeds, the ink may still be a bit damp on some so be careful you don’t smudge it! Some even come with a passport and EU citizenship but they cost a bit more, trust them as no receipts available. I am even told that if you know somebody who has a cousin who knew somebody before 1974 you might even get compensation payments as well.

Buying a house in the North is just as safe - just remember it was owned by a Greek Cypriot before you, even if it was built yesterday!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Not all the land in the north was previously Greek Cypriot owned. Estimates of land mass ownership by ethnic grouping vary but it could be argued that as much as 30 - 32% was owned by the Turkish Cypriot largely agricultural farmers.

A mistake oft made by those advocating the Greek Cypriot case for land restoration equates population numbers with rights to land... The size of land owned by farmers is much greater than many other occupations the world over.

This inequality is part of what led to the sense that as a minority population the Turkish Cypriots held a disproportionate mass of land - leading to disquiet and jealousy and avarice, which Makarios et al used to drive the wedge between the two communities for their own nefarious means.

They then picked a fight they thought they were justified in prosecuting and got a bloody nose. They've bleated about it ever since.

Thing is, when you wage war of whatever type over land ownership - what you already own becomes fair game...if you don't understand the risks - don't be surprised that you lose not gain from being beastly to your neighbours...
