Best beach Alsancak/Lapta side?
Looking for a beach to visit for my daughter in the above area - any suggestions most welcome! Daughter over 50 so quiet would be welcome if there is such a place - lol. Coming from East side if there is any road left but not worried about distance. Somewhere North of where the Golden Lady used to be would be great. Many thanks.

Just past Golden Lady turn right at traffic lights, Mare Monte beach is at the end of the road, easy to park good beach with brollies and sun beds and the cafe there is very good. All Belydie facilities so cheap but and clean.

Thank you, that is perfect! We used to swim there many years ago and had completely forgotten about it!
I nearly lost my wife to rip tide today at Alagadi beach, pulled into deep water and rapidly offshore when she was stood in water below her knees! If it had not been for my daughter being able to reach her she would have been swept away and drowned.
She tried to swim back to the beach but could nor make any headway against the tide and despite waving and shouting for help a couple who had been watching just walked away.
Beware the rip tides at Alagadi, they claim lives every year!

waddo, that's frightening!
Glad she's OK.
Escape Beach is now run by Alsancak Belediyesi, so it's very reasonably priced.
Also Kervanseray Beach is Belediye-run so it's cheap and well maintained

In delighted to hear about Escape Beach. There has been a running argument with the Belediye and private hotels as to who owns the sea shore. I'm delighted the Belly seem to be winning the argument and so they should.

Thanks Keith, it was a lesson well learnt! I had told them both before they went to be very careful about the rip tides and under tows at Alagadi and by all accounts they both were. Just one miss step onto a patch of sand and the water just took her! My daughter saved her for sure and we are both very grateful for her lack of panic and positive actions.

Very worrying to hear this. Thank God it ended well. I really feel that this should be made blatantly and boldly clear to people. It is a very dangerous area for bathing.
Our friend lost his son there , I think he was celebrating his 25th birthday there with friends, went swimming and drowned. How quickly a glorious day on a sunny beach can be life changing.

The next bay to the East - I think it is now called Alagadi 2 - is much safer! The water is shallow for a long way out but still deep enough to swim in. However, you still need to be aware of the power of the sea at all times! My wife was very lucky, she is a strong swimmer but the sea is much stronger, fortunately she did not panic but just kept a slow breaststroke going even through she was going nowhere - lol. People get scared when the waves get high and they take in salt water but there is little they can do without help from the shore - lucky lady and a lesson well learnt!
