state of the UK 10 yrs on

Reading some past discussions upon the 2016 referendum to leave the European Union and single market.

So 10 yrs on the inevitable is now clear to see.
Were the predictions correct. ....Absolutely

The UK economy is in melt down with essentially zero growth.
Trade deals have just not materialised.
Fishing and agriculture has suffered immense damage.
British steel is crippled.
Exports have collapsed.
The EU has not broken down as some predicted. It certainly is weaker without the UK and war in Europe is once again looming closer and fast.
The UK is militarily weak and the country is the weakling in the herd. Ripe for attack.
UK border control is in disarray. Desirable EU professionals have disappeared replaced by young fighting age males of mixed and often dubious character.
The NHS never got the £350,000 a week investment as the RED bus sold us.
The Northern Island border issue has completely failed everyone.
Travelling and Schengen restrictions have become real issues for UK citizens.
Farage himself acknowledges the failure tho his ultra right wing ideology has progressed to the next level.
financial losses are now measured in £ billions x 000 and no recovery plan is evident as the government remain tied

To the get over it, wait and see, brigade.
Take back control.
Hardly!!
Yes you got it totally wrong.
Anyone got any positive outcomes...?

Please be more wary of politicians bearing wonderful slogans and promises of untold freedom and happiness.

On the bright side - ??? Oh well, only another 15 years to wait to see if the predictions for recovery will come true! Of course the old majority who fell for all the lies will probably never be around then and the legacy left behind will be covered up as normal. I predict that the BBC will do a special investigation into what everyone knows already and just roll out the facts “As they see them” to prove what a fine news reporting system it is! Will I care when I am 93? Probably as much as I do now - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

I didn’t even read it tbh. I’m assuming it’s the usual Brexit is the reason we have so many abandoned dogs in TRNC or suchlike. Britain’s economy is buggered because we destroyed our manufacturing industry years ago.
Any recent decline is impossible to measure against Brexit because of the effects of the covid lockdown which everyone is still recovering from.
As for the state of the U.K. in general that’s because our politicians & authorities decided that crime, corruption and anti-social behaviour was too much trouble to deal with.

Wow that is the first and only time you’ve ever read and not deliberately misunderstood or ignored my reply.

What I find strange is you never come on here with anything to do about the TRNC. To ask about something, to offer help or comment about something happening out here unless there is a chance of shoehorning Brexit into it.

I have visions of you stalking a variety of forums to cut and paste your usual Brexit diatribe.
Bird Watchers of Norfolk have a thread on why the Siberian Chiffchaffs haven’t been seen this year and in you jump “well had the people not voted for Brexit……”

Thank you,
I shall refrain from any further comment to you. I think your time is better spent doing something else.
Others with more sensible and intelligent input are welcome.

I’ve noticed that there is another thread going about some difficulty paying a water bill out here.
I’m thinking Brexit Waz, given they had no trouble pre June 2016.

Why don’t you get in there and fill your boots 🤣🤣🤣

Paid water bill second time, didn't realise I had to have mobile close by at the same time. As for Brexit, well I'm too old and past it to comment really, just know that despite family wanting us back, I can't think of many reasons for returning to UK. Other than I can buy as much decent porridge as I want.

Brexit is the reason why my 90 year old mother, who lives in the UK in Dunstable and 20 mins from Luton airport, can no longer come and go from Cyprus via Larnaca as she wishes.

Yes she can in theory come via Turkey, change planes in Turkey and then fly on to Ercan but the reality is at her age this increased difficulty is the difference between being able to come on her own and not being able to come at all under her own steam.

This is a real world actual detriment to the quality of my Mothers life and is explicitly a result of Brexit and nothing else. I have yet to see any compensating benefit for my Mother as a result of Brexit. Only downside and loss for her.

Erol, Why has Brexit stopped your mum travelling if she can cope with being on the plane for the journey, as you seem to be saying she would, but Brexit is stopping her.
