Water meter

has anyone experienced minus tonnage on their water meter, my friends meter had 28 tons credit when he went back this for no apparent reasons disappeared, now showing minus 24tons.

Maybe a water leak? We had a problem a few years back, lost tons of water.

Meters that use cards should stop water flow when -5. I have oftened had this in bellapais and always been a meter fault. The last 3 I have reported have had to have the gubbins removed and now have to be read monthly.

We've had read monthly for getting on for 22 years, thank the lord. Only very occasionally has there been a fault and that was because the glass on top has so much condensation, the numbers were not readable. When that cleared the numbers were photographed and error corrected the next month. Nothing like as dramatic as your apparent loss.

Like so many things, the card reading meter was supposed to be a wonderful thing, pay up front, only what you use, out of credit meter stops etc.
I never leave excessive credit on the meter, always credit on card in case customers use a lot of water and run out when offices are closed.
But no back up plan when the meters failed Karsiyaka now back to monthly bills and 70% of customers have failed in bellapais too.

Were your gates locked? All four of my customers the gubbins taken out and the meters worked!! I paid monthly the standing charge too.
Admittedly water was only credited twice a year on average.
Bellapais now 800tl a month no water with the card meter but 1123.60tl a month up to 10 units, a monetary difference when no water is used throughout the year

On the back of what you said, l took my old and new water cards to LAC belediyesi water department this morning, inquiring of them if there is a change in how l purchase or to be charged for water.

It was checked and confirmed my old card credit had been transferred to the new card and l would continue to purchase water credits as previously. The water meter now displays tonnes credit rather than TL credit “to make it easier to understand”. I didn’t bother to mention my meter had always displayed credit as tonnes rather than TL.

I left satisfied though bemused since my old meter and card were working just fine.
