Short term rentals law.

The short term rentals law is now in operation I believe ?

I seem to remember reading ,when the draft was published ,that there was going to be a phone number on which neighbours could report loud disruptive renters.

Does anyone know if it exists I wonder ?

We are at present suffering with the neighbours from hell !

Surely it would affect lots of people on this forum.

Does anybody know if it exists or forgotten about like lots of other law.

If so a big loss of revenue for the govt.

We have a villa which we let out as a holiday rental and pay all our taxes. We went to the Tourism office in April to register for a license and were told that systems weren’t in place yet!
We were advised that once up and running, an annnouncement would be made in the press/ social media.
So far we have not seen any updated news on this.

The law is enacted...existing short lets had to until july to comply...

Its either 1 month or half a month min wage registration plus a smaller annual fee...i havent seen anybody on airbnb etc post a registratiin number...

Im thinking about a short let in the future but im waiting for clarification like everyone else..

Sorry not much use...they succesfully.implemented a similar system.in turkey...

The fee is off putting for many its all about collecting tax which im.in favour of....theres studios in iskele for £25.per night i dont believe at these prices people are paying tax & its unfair for bona fide people and the hotels have pressured for this...the penalties are huge in turkey for no license....personally i would.not rent now without a license..some just renting a few weeks will be scuppered...it might work out better if theres less demand & they actually enforce the rules. They need the taxes and the hotels are complaining about unregulated untaxed low priced competition so i expect enforcement. I guess foreigners will be targetted first...

Also airbnb booking.com etc might start cancelling ads who dont have registration numbers.

Id read the law passed & was published in the gazettenon 28 th march..

Staff and process to implement is up in the air...

Hopefully.inverno if it is short let the party.might end soon...

The foreign residence society published what owners were required to do.
I still haven't heard from the owner about undertaking the requirements before starting registering

One would.hope if there are people doing short lets & paying tax they will not be subject to any fines as from what i can make out its as yet not.possible or difficult.to register...i guess more news/info will come to light.

Ive read penalty can be up to 10 months minimum wage...

Who intends to register if its 1.months min wage plus annual fee?

Many renting adhoc it wont be worth it.

So after your holiday let tenant leaves you need a note from the tenant of a day or two to say they no longer need the property even if its 7 years after they leave WHY the Tapu requires it if you sell it

Yes once your house is on the tax system they can be a bit anal....i think its partly because so many people are not paying tax. Most time i go now the person we deal with is dealing with someone telling them to pay more tax as they either dodged or under declared.

They are going to have to hit people with heavy fines if they want all the russians renting studios in iskele for 35 euro per night to comply with the license as it certainly costs a few quid & takes time.

For those who are bona fide tax payers this is actually positive albeit a costly pain. Ive done airbnb in the past but for a small unit but it wasnt worth it. I have 3+1 in mind to start again as it presents better economies im waiting to see proper enactment of this license etc

It is a good idea but my customers have always paid rental tax but now some only have a few let's a year, most returners but now 10 days not 14. £700 , tax out, electricity, water, cleaning etc they will probably be out of pocket.

Airbnb is a great idea...until you try it for a year..

The novelty wears off when you are on call 24/7 and then you have that customer to deal with who its like walking on egg shells with in case they ruin your rating and future bookings...theres always 1 no matter how good your house is....
