Road Closure Update
The Department of Highways announced that the road between Kyrenia Değirmenlik Mountain Road Kyrenia Acapulco Junction and Alevkayası will remain closed until September 30 due to works.

Saw this, easy money if you take the risk
Officially the road is closed but access to Arapkoy from the Girne side is allowed.
The closure of the Girne–Değirmenlik Mountain Road between the Acapulco junction and Alevkayası is not the result of a parliamentary law but rather an administrative order issued by the TRNC Highways Department. The Department has authority under the Road Traffic Law and related regulations to restrict or close roads temporarily when construction works or safety concerns require it.
The official notices are published as written announcements, and once issued they carry legal force. In this case, the section of the road was initially closed until 31 August 2026, and the Department has formally extended the closure until 30 September 2026. The reason given is to ensure life and property safety during the ongoing works under the Karayolu Master Plan.
Enforcement is carried out by the police, who monitor the closed section and prevent vehicles from entering. Drivers who ignore the closure face fines and penalties under the Road Traffic Law. The closure is therefore treated as a binding safety measure, even though it is temporary and not a permanent legislative change.
The legal basis is the Road Traffic Law combined with the Highways Department’s official closure order, which remains in effect until the announced date.
The fine for driving on a closed road is treated as a violation under the Road Traffic Law and is calculated as a percentage of the minimum wage.
For ignoring a police order or traffic closure, the penalty is set at 100% of the minimum wage, which currently is 70,893 TL.
So I think it's up to the individual and don't moan if you get fined!!!
