Water softener block salt - Is it available in the TRNC?

I mean the 4kg solid blocks of salt that you just slot into your softener, as opposed to the bags of tablet or granular salt that you tip in.

As far as I am aware, you can not get block salt in TRNC. I searched everywhere in Cyprus to no avail. So I then brought the Brine tank back to the UK and exchanged it for one which took tablets and will bring it back shortly. The ironic thing is that the when I spoke to the engineer in the UK, he said that you can put the tablets in a brine tank where the blocks would go and it will work just as well.

Hi Bear thanks for the reply. I have a twin tec softener and am pretty sure it does take tablet salt as well. I just wondered if block salt was available coz as you know its much easier. Never mind its either tablet salt or my 8kg of hand luggage gone each time.
