LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
We desperately are seeking a good home for a 1 year old loving girl that we adopted or were adopted by when she found us. We took her in and she very quickly became part of our family.
She has been fully inoculated (need a booster in Sept/Oct), but she is de-flea'd and de-ticked and a very happy outdoor dog and even has her own kennel.
If you are looking for a dog with aggression then please look elsewhere..... This young lady's name "very appropriately" is Missy and she would more likely roll on her back and then lick you to death rather than be any use as a guard.
We sadly have to leave the island at short notice and not able to take her with us, we're gutted we cannot take her and don't want her to go back to the street.
The Dog Home / Rescue Center is full which is no surprise but there must be someone that lives here that wants a loving
companion because you will be hard pushed to find a better nature'd and more faithful companion and she is even fully disciplined by an ex military dog handler and able to even walk "Off Lead" at heel.???
Please contact either myself or my wife as soon as possible. There are too many poor strays on the streets here and needless to say I would rather have her put to sleep than roam the streets and be abused like the rest of the street dogs, but this "young lady" deserves at least the chance of bringing love and happiness into someone else's life like she has into our's.
Once you meet her you will see exactly why she deserves that chance!
Call: 0533 888 6153 or 0533 844 2567
Many Thanks for your attention!

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Don't want to be rude, but are you absolutely certain that you can't take her with you. KAR pet transportation department will be able to give you all the information you need and it's nothing like as expensive as it used to be. If you really are going back at very short notice, maybe someone could look after her for the 3 months it takes to do all the jabs and test etc and then she could travel separately and you could meet her in a few months time back in the UK. No reputable VET would euthaniase a healthy dog and it would be unfair to ask them to do so. The KAR centre is full because of the strays from the street that it takes in. They would need a completely new centre if they were to take in all the dogs that Ex-pats etc choose not to take their pets back with them. Is there no way you can find a way around the situation and take her with you? She looks a real sweety and I'm sure she will miss you terribly.

Topgun 777 should you decide to go down the route suggested by Sophie provided Missy gets on with our dogs we would be prepared to foster her for the 3 months or so that it would take to arrange.BBB

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Yes "Missy" is a real sweety, and WE both, in particular my wife have been upset since this decision was made, but as I said it sadly will NOT be an option to take her with us and believe me we wanted to and it is "NOTHING" to do with cost!! and more importantly, I don't really have to justify my decision on a forum, all I have done is spent countless hours trying to find "Missy" a good home, sticking posters in the supermarkets and ads everywhere.... It is more than many do in dumping their animals on the streets, so please don't get me started on that subject, because I have seen a lot of this over the last 12 months...
My wife & I are very much dog lovers and very aware of how many strays there are in this banana republic and also aware of the limitations the KAR can offer.
It is only fair to remind you that "Missy" was a stray "street dog" and found us and was in very bad condition until we had her "vetted" etc and would certainly have been dead if we hadn't taken her in. At least now she is healthy, vaccinated and also trained and had a very good life in the last 12 months, so with all due respect, "Missy" really shouldn't have many problems finding a new loving home if there really are as many "Dog Lovers" here in the TRNC that spend immense amount of time on these forums.

Sadly we are based in the UK and not yet able to spend our time in the TRNC but as dog lovers ourselves we would like to wish you all the very best with finding Missy a new home - she looks a real lady. You are doing everything possible for her and we really do hope you are successful.
I think some posters are just offering some suggestions so please dont take offence - but you don't have to justify your reasons for not taking her back with you - you are trying your best to give her every possible chance of finding a new place to stay. Unfortunately some would rather dump the animal than make an effort to re-home.
Good luck and hopefully we will soon read that she has found somewhere.
Best wishes

We too rescued a dog and can relate to your situation. There are a lot of dog lovers here unfortunately most of them have already taken in as many as they can . Keep trying and I'm sure you will find someone - I really hope so.

No offence taken Sophie, didn't mean to sound like I was having a bite at your post, just feeling a little gutted having to do this that's all. On top of all that it seems that "Dog dumping" is still going on, last night early hours I was awakened by horrific screaming, even Missy barked in an unusual and frightened way. It sounded like a puppy screaming in its dying last breath, it set all of the dogs off barking, I will check around my area today and if I find anything will let you know.

Hi topgun777, is your area anywhere near Ozankoy /Bellapais?. My dogs also created early this morning at something cying in the area.
One of my dogs was also dumped, but I am sure by English people, who probably couldn't be bothered to look for a home for her, unlike you. Good luck to you. I only wish I could help, but two are enough for me to manage on my own.

Don't worry topgun, when you work as closely with KAR as I do, we have to be pretty thick skinned. I'll give you an example of a phone call today. Someone on the West side rang up to say they had taken 4 pups in (or it might have been 6, I'm not sure) and had been feeding them all the time. They were flying back home tomorrow so could KAR come and collect them TODAY!! How's that? The centre in Arapkoy is quite literally overflowing with young dogs and pups. Unfortunately it could easily have been a very young pup that you heard. The foxes are becoming more and more "domesticated" and coming closer and closer to humans and will pick up and carry off a young pup or kitten or one that a female has had to go away and leave for a while. I do wish you luck in your endeavours but with 3 street dogs of our own and 250+ at the Centre to choose from, its just not possible but I'm relieved to see you are not one of the people who use and abuse KAR which is stretched to capacity and above.

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Just a thought Topgun, has she been neutered. If not, you might think about it before you go - it might just tip the balance, and if the worst came to the worst it would make her life back onthe street easier, and you would have the comfort of knowing you had done your bit to reduce the number of homeless puppies. Perhaps KAR would at least tag her, so people could see she had been done and had basic attention and be tempted to care for her.
Pertev did the operation on mylatest dog It was incrredibly neat - disolvable stitches and no convalesence or aftr care needed -- she was running around happily in 48 hours.
Sorry I cant offer, but it is hard enough to look after 3 exstrays (one of whom has already been through the trauma of rehousing because of the illness of her previous carer) with age and declining health and finances and constant worry about what will happen to them when I can no longer physically look after them.
I dont want to start the KAR debate again, but not everyone dumps dogs irresponsibly. There are tragic cases of people who have adopted dogs(often without previous experience, no understanding of the issues involved, and no support or advice) to leave them for reasons beyond their control - age and health for instance - and accommodation problems in the UK for themselves let alone dogs, and have the distress of frettig about the dog in addition Or just need temporary help during an illness but cant afford boarding fees. No one seems to care about these dogs or realises that their carers have already contributed to reducing the stray dog problem by paying for their injections, neutering etc. and bringing the dogs to health and hopefully giving some training.
We are in the main an aging population and it is such a shame that people may be put off adopting a dog because there are no resources if they have problems. KAR consider they have other priorities (and in any case putting a dog who has lived "en famile" in kennels is not a good solution) so a mutual help organisation would seem to be a step forward, but is anyone interested?

Sadly, no luck or any inquiries as yet,.... we are still hoping that someone will adopt missy. At least on this forum she has been viewed a lot, as for the other forums not even a sniff.
Time is running out unfortunately and we will have to go see our vet next week at last resort.....
Thanks for at least caring, we really do appreciate any help that anyone can give in finding missy a new home...

We're all waiting with baited breath, maybe a solution can be found. It just goes to show the problems that can arise when we, out of the goodness of our hearts, takes on a stray(s) (or allows ourselves to be adopted by one or more) I know someone who had deliberately turned down the offer of a property in the UK, to be bought for her by her children, because it would mean no pets and she won't leave hers behind. Its a terrible dilemma for those that really care. For those who don't care then there is no problem.

Don't people READ.... We are NOT going to the UK and whatever the case if there was any chance we could take her with us I would not be wasting my time trying to justify matters in here or spending every minute I can sticking posters all over north cyprus, which so far has counted for nothing other than the fact I am trying a damn site harder than many.....
To be honest, all these comments mean nothing unless someone out there reads the post and contacts me soon....

Yes, I do read but thought you meant you were going to UK so, sorry for that, but do you have to be so rude? I appreciate your frustration and sorrow about the situation in which you now find yourselves and Missy and hope that someone will come forward and give her a nice home. It is just so hard to re-home out here when most animal lovers have more than they can cope with, but keep trying, you may be lucky in the end.

Idea
you could take her to the dog show on Sunday with a placard on her so people can meet her, not everyone will have seen this forum or your posters, worth a try?

Actually Paws in the Park officially starts at 10.30 - but will probably be a bit later but as KAR envisages a good turn out if the Lapta Show is anything to go by then to arrive early for Registration is a good idea. You could register Missy for a number of a Classes, (other than Handsomest Male, Golden Oldie, Ugliest Mutt or Best KAR dog.) That still leaves you with
1. Prettiest Butch
2. Child and 4 legged friend
3. Dog with waggiest tail
4. Best 6 legs (?)
7. Dog in Best Condition
8. Best Street Dog
9. Happy Families (more than one dog on show)
10. Friendliest dog.
Good luck. I'll keep an eye open for her.

Have been out and about all over the place today and have seen your appeal poster in regards to Missy everywhere.
Well done for all your efforts.
She really is a lovely dog and I'm keeping everything crossed that someone falls in love with her and offers to give her a good home and that you have peace of mind that you have tried your best.
Good luck!

For all that have seen or interacted with this post, my wife and I and of course the infamous "Missy" will be in attendance at the dog show and if you think she is cute from her photo's, just wait until you see her enter and most likely win;
a) Friendliest dog
b) Dog with waggiest tail
c) Dog in Best Condition
d) Best in Obedience
e) Best Street Dog
But what matters is really someone seeing her and being able to provide her a new loving home.
See you there!!

The very best for this weekend.
Really hope someone will be able to take her in.
Not much we can do from the UK but as we have a rescue greyhound laying out on "her" sofa our thoughts are with you and Missy.
Good Luck.

Today I went to KAR dog show and met Missie, she is the most loveable friendly dog and was so good with all the other dogs that came up to talk to her. I feel so sorry for Topgun and his other half. They are desperate to find her a good home. I so wish that I was able to take her,but can only cope with 2 on my own. She won some prizes and I am sure you will see them on this forum. GOOD LUCK YOU DESERVE IT.

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Well....Alas, Missy attended the Paws dog show in Girne with style, had lots of attention and petting but sadly no-one to take her home. We entered her for the Best Bitch, best 6 legs and friendliest dog and out of 3 entries came away with 3 rosettes.... However after what was a lovely day we are back to the same dilemma. we have a matter of days before we depart and once again "It is NOT an option to take her with us", which leaves me with the sad decision in having her put to sleep and after today it just makes it a sadder and more difficult situation.
Anyway, it seems I cannot post her picture of her after winning at the show.... Everytime I try to submit the picture it says: "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached"...... Very Strange!!! Maybe someone can advise as to how I can upload this new photo, Thanks

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
the thought of this gorgeous dog being put down makes my stomach churn. If I had a bigger place I would take her myself, but I cannot for more than one reason. Oh please, dear KAR, could n't you find a corner somewhere for her. I will put this picture in the paper if I may, and see if it tugs at anyone;s heart string,s but I DO appreciate that time is running out. What about if KAR could squeeze her in and someone paid for her food until a home is found. Or a temporary adoption> I just can't bear the thought of this poor thing being snuffed out like an unwanted candle. i DO appreciate the dilemma < I do, and I cna imagine the owners are gutted, but as someone said, most dog owners are stretched in the extreme.
One of the reasons I know I could not return to Australia, even if I had the money, is because I could not leave my dog. Daft, I know, but they are 'family' aren't they.
I really do feel terrible, doubly so because I know I can't help.

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Hi Marion, actually you met our Missy and her loving adopting parents at Bamboo Beach recently and we saw you at the dog show today.
Yes she is more than a sweety and it more than makes our stomachs churn at even the thought of having Missy put down, but there is absolutely NO WAY I will drop her back to the street where she came from to be abused again, she was in a disgusting state and had been heavily beaten when she found us and if we hadn't taken her in, she would have been just another statistic of a dead dog in the TRNC!!
Please do put a picture in the paper if you can to try and find Missy a home, the more exposure you can provide the better.
Believe me, we have advertised her everywhere from Catalkoy to Karsiyaka and we are doing everything we can to find Missy a new loving home. Also, so that people do understand, we are leaving the island and where we are heading will be impossible to take her as much as we would love to. Any help you can provide in finding Missy a new loving home here in TRNC would be very much appreciated.
You can reach me via this forum or if you are going to be placing her photo in the paper and want to place contact numbers to reach us, then: 0533 888 6153 and 0533 844 2567

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
I will ask my Editor if we can give Missy a special corner. it is good that you have explained why you cannot take her. I am sure that people will be very understanding, and I do so hope a home is found. I just WISH i could tak eher. sorry I don't remember meeting her at bamboo beach, and cannot put a face to you. I just wish my husband could encounter having another dog, but it is a no no, and I am not sure how Dudu would take to it with her being an ony child. another dog dumped in the hopes that someone would take her in. I did win a prize the other year with her as 'dog most like its owner' when I had longer hair with lots of ginger streaks. I got pushe dinto that, do won't put her thorugh the indignities of it again!
But back to Missy. I will do all i can, and I can see that you have too. Let's allpray for a miracle. I know there are lots of dogs needing a home, but with the Sword of Damacles hanging over Missy, ................excuse me, I am off to light a few dozen more candles as prayers for her to find a home!
come on you Kibkomers, there has to be SOMEONE , or at least someone who knows someone who knows someone!!!!!

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Although some of you won't like what I am about to say, I say it from the heart, you all know how I feel about dogs and animals in general but if no home can be found for this very special dog then euthanasia is the best thing, how could she be put in KAR, it would be a fate worse than anything else, quality of life must be a factor and to be left with that organisation is not something I would be happy to do, they will just dump her on the streets to fend for herself and after being truly loved that would be just awful.
I really hope someone gives her a home.

Re: LOVING CARING HOME URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!!
Thank you for all your kind words and lets really hope something comes up, because you are absolutely right that a corner in KAR is not for Missy and personally I feel that Doggy heaven is too early for her because she has a lot of love to give someone, however the trouble is finding someone who can give Missy the love she craves for...
Please everyone, keep trying, something has to come up, ask friends, neighbors or whoever you can...its all about Karma and what comes around goes around...

Not sure you will find a vet who will put Missy 'down' anyway. Have you considered fostering. There are people whose pockets are stretched to the limits with the dogs they have, but who could offer a loving home if money was provided for food? could that be an option? I can't offer because my saying no is for a different reason, but.........

There are vets who will do it out there, these myths that no vet will are just wrong and designed to help KAR!

Missy certainly did you and her proud over the weekend.
Very disappointed no one was able to offer her a long term home. Appreciate time is running out but we still live in hope.
Dont give up.
