Our mains water pressure has dropped to a dribble! I know this can happen from time to time as looking on a post last November a few of us experienced this. Has anyone else got this problem please? Regards, Mrs Snakes.

Ours keeps getting cut off altogether for a couple of days at a time, but when it does come on its not as fierce as it could be (but more than a dribble) Alsancak must be starting to get us used to Summer switch offs I suppose.

I believe it is because of the current dispute between Kibtek, and everyone else in Northern Cyprus.

The water people haven't' paid their electricity bill, and the electricity people haven't paid their water bill.

The government haven't paid either their electric or water bill(for some time it would seem).

Given that Kibtek needs water for the power station, and the water people need electricity to pump the water, it's a bit of a 'Mexican stand-off' as far as I can see.

As far as I can work out, the only people here that pay all there bills on time are Ex pats.

As a reward for this we have to have AIDS,TB and Hepatitis tests every year.

As an added bonus we have to wait years for the title deeds for our villas.

I still love it here.

Just for the record I am a citizen here and I generally pay my bills on time.

philoz that tongue of yours is always in cheek, think it may have to be surgically removed. Better there than some other places!

Maisee, although we're Alsancak in reality we are just over the other side of the ravine to you. We've had sufficient water but not cut off as much as you have been. Go down to the Belly offices and tell them what has happened Its too early in the year to be cut off for 4 days on the trot.

Sophie, water always has been a problem here! Before we went over to Alsancak we were lucky to get any water at all, usually when one of our TC neighbours had a pop at the mukhtar. At least now we usually get it in 3 times a week. We had some in today but only for 6 hours, but now the tanks are full and we should in theory have another lot in at the weekend.
