Aegean Airlines - No direct flights from London

Please excuse me if this is old information but only today have I been notified that the above airline has stopped doing direct flights from London GATWICK to Larnaca. My email says the Flight now departs from London HEATHROW and are changing at Athens. Adds another 90 minutes plus to the journey as well as the return journey leaving Larnaca at 5.30am

Maybe instead of putting money into the South's economy you might be better off flying into Ercan.

Silver Fox - couldn't agree more.

We have lived here 6 years and we and all of our visitors have never used any airport other than Ercan. If you live here or own a home for visits you should be supporting the North not the South.

Thank you for alerting us to this Scarletts we always use Ercan and most of our visitors do however we have one lot of visitors with a toddler who are coming in to Larnaca in May, their travel company did not alert them to this, they have just rung them to enquire about this and are now awaiting 'options' to be sent. Luckily they had not booked their car parking yet at Gatwick!!

Thanks for the tip off. We were booked out mid June. We always use Aegean as the service is the very best. Not to pleased that they had just re booked us but not informed us. Used the search engine Momondo and found an alternative with Turkish Airlines into Ercan for £4 less.

Scarlets, I have not received an email with flight change so looked at booking and see there has been a change. I cant seem to do anything or modify the booking to the new times via their website and it looks like on one of the flights for one person there is an extra 6 euros required and on another flight I booked for 2 an extra 14 euros. I cant seem to move forward on the booking, ie accept the additional amount. Is there a UK number to ring and did you have an addtional fee to pay please? Thank you. Mrs Snakes.

My daughter and her husband have been affected by this change. She has successfully cancelled the flight (at a cost of £8.00) and will now travel via another carrier. The UK contact number for Aegean Airlines is 0871 2000040. She will get a refund of the original flight cost (less £8.00) within 10 days. Hope this helps.

Well thanks for the postings! we were flying Aegean for the first time after Atlasjet cancelled flights now this, I have called and cancelled flights and they promised a full refund. Now coming as we usually do to good old Ercan with Pegasus.

Barrysnakes yes I did phone that number, no problems (awaiting refund) quite a long wait to get through but it was Sunday.

Pleased everyone is getting sorted quickly. Hope Aegean have notified all their customers now although my son was not, he found out from some friends who are on the same flight

Still no email to notify us. Had booked 3 flights with Aegean, so thank you Scarlets for bringing this all to our attention. As I am in NC, I phoned Greece direct on +30 210 626 1000 via skype which was cheaper than phoning the 0871 UK number, the 0871 number diverts you to Greece anyway!
I can see some peeps turning up at the wrong airport!

You are welcome, what an awful way of doing business. This could have a big impact upon the holiday arrangements for thousands of people during the summer months. My son still has not received notification although he was privy to this information

I think it is disgusting that people are being charged £8 to rearrange/cancel a flight when the airline has moved the goalposts.
I thought this sort of thing was illegal under EU law,and more to the point I thought they had to get you from where you wanted to go even if it was with a different airline.
Or have I been reading the wrong 'consumer advise' websites?
It's a bloody disgrace!

I agree Philoz, it must be illegal. It's another airline making things up as they go along. I feel sorry for the people who are not aware of the changes as they may not have the ability to change their flights due to lack of availability

I just by chance happened to look at my booking online on Sunday to see that instead of flying from London Gatwick to Larnaca, we were now going via Athens from London Heathrow. When I called them to clarify, it was a case of my only options were to cancel & obtain a refund or go with the alternative flights that they were offering. As everything else had been booked we had no option but to accept the flights they were offering however, a flight which originally was to take four and a half hours is now 7hr 40min going & 10hrs 30mins return as we have to sit at Athens airport. When I asked about some sort of compensation for all the changes, I was told that there would be no compensation available it was a case of take it or leave it. Will I bother booking with them again - NO

Daughter booked flights Larnaca Gatwick in July with Agro air, reminded them of U.K. Law and rights, told they will be transferd to B.A. Flight London H/Row at no cost to them. Also told they are informing customers only four weeks before flight dates . Great company P.R. Just hope more folks take them to law and finish them total!
