CHARITY begins at home PART 2 the Poll

Post by Soner »

Hi, as mentioned in last topic there is only 130TL in the pot to be donated to one of the nominated charities. There were 3 charities that I counted that were nominated. Now you can vote on which charity will receive the donation, so far there is 130TL in the pot which I will now double , which I hope will help encourage more help from forum members - so there is now 260TL in the pot and this can be increased simply by posting new topics and replying to them from now until 8th May 2012.

As I was a little late in setting up the poll, it will begin today for 12 days, ending on the 8th May when final count will be made.

Please start voting and continue posting and try to get more of your friends to join this forum, where not only can they get good info and chat and make new friends, but help others in need in the process.

No need to vote on which forum is the "winner" - Kibkom was not in a race. No need to join a forum that gives impossible targets to try and achieve new members - Kibkom has achieved almost 700 members in 2 weeks through proper marketing. All I ask now of my members is that you vote on who we can help this time around.

Please give us your full support and become a true Kibkomer.

Below is message from start of: "Charity begins at home"

Hi all and welcome to the Kibkom Forum.

I would like to start by saying a big thank you for all your support in trying to get this forum off the ground. I would, hence, like to donate 1TL for every New Topic posted (each Topic posted must have atleast 2 replies) , from now until the 8th May 2001, to a nominated TRNC charity. There has to date been 20 topics posted so far with 2 or more replies, adding 20TL to the pot.

This is how it will work
Member can nominate a TRNC charity within this post (Reply), over the next 2 weeks. Last nomination must be in by end of 21st April 2012.
I will then set up a poll for the list of nominated charities, of which members will be able to vote for, up until the 30th April 2012.
The charity with the most votes will receive the donation that has accumulated over the above set period, on Sat 7th July 2012.

Help those with cancer association runs many schemes available to everyone. They are reliant on the generosity of the whole community. They have managed to get a Hospice up and running, an invaluable community resource. They do have a direct debit scheme, say 10TL a month or whatever one wishes. A regular pledge helps them manage ongoing projects like the Hospice. Most major Cypriot/Turkish banks subscribe to the scheme.

I must confess I do not understand why people can't be bothered to vote for giving away money that is not their own. I always take delight in giving other people's monies away (especially my husband's, as he is always telling me). But why on earth hasn't EVERYONE voted on this.

there are other charities that could have been added to the list - all in need - the Kemal Saracogluy foundation helps 40 children with cancer and their families, Tulips as everyone knows helps all those who turn to them for help and advice; and little Ismael needs money for ongoing treatment, but there is Cheshire Home that helps thee disadvantaged who are not helped by Government, and the Diabetic Assn which helps to raise awareness and gives information to educate thepeople of the island how to live to avoid the nastier effects of the disease, plus NCCCT which buys vital equipment for hospitals for cancer patient,s and then Children in Need who help refurbish hospital wards and much more, the Children's Welfare Association which helps many of the poorer children in Lefkosia, and lots of other smalleer charities we do not hearof, but in view of the smal number of voters, three is enough!
I wonder how many more owuld have voted if the list had been longer.

So come on KibKomers - vote to spend Soner's money! (maybe I should not have said thaat!)

I have calculated total posts with 2 or more replies come up to: 306
As per 1st message I had doubled the first 130 posts, so grand total is 436
Total to be donated = 436TL ( could have / should have been a lot more )
According to poll the donation will go to: The Kemal Saracoglu Foundation.

Can someone please let me know how I can get this money over to them.

Why not wait untilk you come over and I will introduce you to them. Their office is in Lefkosia and it would be good for you to meet them.
Or I can get it to them if you wish, but I do think it would be really good for you to meet them. What do others think. And then I can get a photo and put it on the Forum showing everyone of the handover! Nice newspaper article?????

soner, you need to talk to Lee Hickens. I think there is almost enough money for the arm. Long story. I will send you all I know when you have your phone line back.

I sent loose boots a bit of money to help the little boy a while back, it certainly seems a place the money can make a real difference.
