Kittens in the engine
Has anyone any ideas how to keep Kittens out of the engine in my car. They have been in and out of if for a couple of weeks now, I have to check each time before I can set off, and only sometimes do I see them jump out, I have tried the hose pipe, pipping the horn etc, but as soon as I come back home they jump back in. There were 4 kittens and I can only see 3 today, I was out in the car this morning and hope to God one wasn't left inside. I cant see any blood or remains so hopefully the missing cat is just asleep somewhere. Any ideas anyone.

They say if you bang on the bonnet of the car that should scare them out?

Re: Kittens in the engine
I have tried that, but as soon as they hear me coming or the horn they jump to the bottom of the engine and then it looks like there is a gap at the back of the engine that they fit in to. The mother is a true Feral and wont let me anywhere near them, she is lying under the car to feed them, I have tried to coax them out with smelly fish but she eats it and the kittens stay where they are. There is still 1 missing so I think I have dropped it off at Supreme as that is the only place I stopped yesterday. Thanks for your reply Mozgor, I might try to hose water from the bottom of the engine and see if they will shoot out the top, just scared I do some damage to the engine, any car people know if I will damage it.

Engine should be OK as long asss you dont use too much water and nothing gets onto delicate electrics.

Lor- Same thing happened to me the other day but it was an adult cat.
I don't think there is much in a car engine that would harm them when you started the engine, most of the fans and pulleys have covers on them.
Maybe you could give your horn a honk, before you start the engine as I think that would scare most cats.

Philoz thanks for taking the time to reply, as I said in message 1, I have honked the horn, it doesn't work. I will try Catalkoy Chris suggestion and try water from under the car. I wanted to go out tonight but couldn't get one of the blighters out of the engine.

Maybe you can try a cat and dog repellent spray. I was at a pet shop yesterday and I saw a can that had a dog and cat pictured with red crossed out circles around them. It was a quick glance and not what I was looking for. Since you want to repel the kittens n such, I remembered that. Hope you find it and helps. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up parking the car somewhere different to stop them.

Not even my 2 dogs or the local street dog stopped them, but parking away from them has worked. I wonder why they don't go in any of the neighbours car, perhaps they prefer polos
