Because of environmental concerns, the organisers weren't able to stage the festival, planned for the last few days of September, next to Golden Beach in the Karpaz. So they were hoping to have it at a venue in the Bafra region.
However, it has just been announced by Mehmet Harmancı, the Minister of Tourism and the Environment, that the event will not go ahead. According to Harmancı the necessary infrastucture is not in place to host such a big music festival.
He added that he hoped TRNC could host such large-scale events in future.

Today on a BRT phone-in, the main organiser of the event, Hilmi Ekrem, said the event would go ahead at the venue in the Bafra region, but on a smaller scale ... and in September 2014.
It would seem that ticket sales (or rather lack of them) were a big factor in this cancellation ... can we call it "postponement" if it is to 12 months later? In any case, Ekrem says that after they had to move the venue from Karpaz to Bafra, the organisers "lost time" and were unable to properly promote the festival at the new venue.

The words " piss up in a brewery" spring to mind.

naughty me, but I have to say I am glad. personally could not see any benefit in this for Cyprus as a whole - just a few bob to the organisers! I am sure the environment is better off for being left alone, and no matter where this is held it will be an ear shattering experience fdor the locals, and may wlel do damage to the environment in some way or other. I do admit it oculd bring in money, but that is perhaps the wrong'god' to worship.
