This is wonderful stuff that is made in South Cyprus - just like real lemons and not as sweet as the rest.. I usually buy it there but I have so little other reason to go now I wondered if anyone has seen it for sale here.

Why bother when Blooms lemon squash is just like home made limonata?

Kean? I dare anyone to make home made lemon squash as tasty and fresh as I do - it tastes like fresh lemon squash just made, even after 4 months in a bottle in the fridge. I still have 14 x 1.5 litre bottles to see me through the summer - traditional family secret I am afraid. I can tell you how it is made but I will have to kill you afterwards

BTW, Blooms is nothing like home made limonata!

I think Kean is a RoC registered company, not Greek. That said, I agree with poster 4 above, you are unlikely to get it north of the Green Line. However, there are a number of supermarket outlets close to the various crossings where it can be purchased and I am certain a friendly neighbour could get some if you cannot do a trip. If you live close to Esentepe, I am going south-side on 18 July and would willingly get you some. Blooms, however, in my view is excellent even if there are qualms as to its 'home made' status.

Thank you for nothing Panchocat. On your recommendation I bought Blooms lemon and it is absolutely disgusting. Not only is it unbearably sweet but the underlying taste owes more to the chemical companies than any farmer. The rest of it is in the bin.

Now I am certain why I bother with Keans!

Well each to their own and Tomsteel also agreed with me and yet he does not merit your sharp retort!?
Personally I do not find Blooms too sweet and being diabetic I know about sweetness levels. You only need a tiny amount and dilute it well.
Must say I find your retort rather ascerbic. I also know several bars and restaurants that use Blooms in Brandy Sours and also sell it as home made lemonade.
I have also made my own lemonade using the Cypriot recipe and have to say that a horrendous amount of sugar is used.
So much for offering helpful advice. C'est la vie!

i once tried the kean stuff after someone was saying how good it was, i found the taste was very artificial and bitter, as stated above i use blooms but just a drop is all that's needed per glass

We were looking for a good lemon squash but were unsure what to try so will give Blooms a go next time we are across. Presume it is sold in most supermarkets?

Thanks for the advice.

We have just had friends from the south staying for a few days ..
Enjoyed drinking Bloom lemon so much that 2 bottles were taken back with them to the south ..
Like Andrew says only a little is required ..
