Jo Valentine Removals
I have read that Valentine Removals have ceased trading, can anyone confirm that this is the case?
Having checked online at Companies House there appears to be a Jo Valentine Removals that has ceased trading but a Valentine Removals that has not.
We were planning to use them for our move to Northern Cyprus next year, can anyone suggest a reliable company, UK to Northern Cyprus.
Many Thanks.

Try Euromed, I used them after a lot of extremely high quotes. They were the cheapest, and my goods arrived safely.

Take care Acton, Olaytrans "lost" all my goods! I suspect they never left TRNC, but were stolen from their depot.
They are in the North, at Famagusta.

Thanks Kaiserphil. Were you insured or compensated for your loss. Were Olaytrans concerned or helpful after the loss? I still have time to change my mind but up to now they seem very helpful and have made two visits to my home.
They are based in Famagusta.

Re: Jo Valentine Removals
They gave me my money back, which was something. Insurance is irrelevant, how do you replace pics of your kids growing up, or items associated with time spent in the armed forces?
No reason why they shouldn't have given me my money back of course, after all they didn't do the job, but not something I would expect from a NC company.
I have a very good idea who had my stuff away, and I think they do as well, but proving it is another matter.

I had excellent service service from Olaytrans.
There is nothing can compensate for the loss of personal items but the same goes for house fires etc, does not mean Olaytrans are to blame surely?

Maybe you didn't understand? Olaytrans had custody of my goods, which they were to ship to Germany.
They disappeared. Why are they not responsible?

I have no idea what happened to your goods, perhaps I am supposed to be a mind reader. Perhaps they were stolen by a third party? Have you got anything to show evidence this was down to Olaytrans and they are solely to blame?

Re: Jo Valentine Removals
Euromed seem to be a current favourite, so it oculd be worth talking to them.
As to past history of disasters, it is always sad, ut at least you got some money compensation for the loss, so whoever took your property ight never be known but O did take responsibility.
I know I would be totally GUTTED TO LOSE MY SENTIMENTAL STUFF. That matters more to be than anything of financial value (not that I have much), but the memories of people and events form yesteryear are to me of ultra importance. They are part of my identity so when anything gets broken or lost, it is like breaking or losing part of myself,.
But the real reason for this thread is to recommend removers, and it does seem that Euromed are worth speaking to.

Message 12 - Jonnie, I can see no point in responding further to your strange logic. Where did I ask who stole my goods?
FACT - Olaytrans collected goods from my home and took them to their depot at Famagusta for onward shipment.
FACT - They lost them.
What is difficult to understand about that?

Just noticed the last sentence of your strange post. Yes, I do have documentary evidence from Olaytrans that the lost the goods.

Re: Jo Valentine Removals
I used Dolphin when we moved, and have to say Uk service was second to none, found that same customer service was not here, but goods all arrived, and was not too painful, apart from accepting that customer service goes out of the window here, but we virtually packed up our home in Uk and bought it over, and the guys who done it were the best, the shame is you have to deal with this side, but still would say safe bet, so maybe they are worth looking at, they have an office in Karakum.

Didn't one of their ships sink a few years ago It was a Liverpool Mersey Ferry deemed too old to cross the Mersey (this was denied originally, but later proven to be true)

Not sure why you responded considering you said there was no point.
1 If your goods are in someone else's hands surely they have been stolen?
2 You say they collected them from your home for onward shipment, at what point were they lost? ie Was it from their depot, was it after customs when the goods were portside was it after the goods were on a ship?
3 Irrelevant or not did the insurance pay out and what was their "take" on it.
Few things to consider outside this. Neighbours lost a container on the ship that sunk a few years ago, I think Olaytrans were the handlers, they facilitated the collection the goods from the UK using a handler in the UK, it would be unfair for them to be blamed for this surely?
"Shippers" on these sort of things are generally the organisers but there are many others in the chain which they have little control over, customs handlers, stevedors, ship crew, agents and delivery personnel in other countries this is why it is always best to be adequately insured.
