Reading through the local news today, I found two articles.
1 A 20 year old man drove his car, without a licence and under the influence of drink, in the resulting crash his young friend was killed, the driver was sentenced to two and a half years in jail.
2 A traffic policeman pocketed 1 million tl in fines, he was sentenced to eight years in jail.
Should that not have been the other way round?
Money or life, which has more value?

I saw a man riding a motorcycle no crash helmet and a little girl standing in front behind the handlebars. He was really shifting along on the main road. If there was an accident they would have been killed. A police car was near by but did nothing.

I thoroughly agree, there doesn't seem to be any logic.Don't forget the policeman would have to get out of the air conditioned car and do too much paper work!!!!

This is a real problem with so many young lives being wasted because the police for what ever reason are ineffective.
Why don't the police stop and charge these people in the villages? We see so many people including Brits drive around our village without seat belts or crash helmits and yet the police do nothing. They know who these people are but appear to tolerate what's going on.
It's simply beyond my comprehension and it saddens me.

İ agree also! Me And my husband And 2 children in the car driving To Lefkoşa And a truck
Over take us speeding with its back end full of Woods And then come in front of us, it had
No security straps around the Woods that were all bobbing up And down which could of easily
Flew off into cars behind!
So we moved To come around him And gone infront abit out the way And then the truck driver
Then a police car came Over taking And Just carried on driving with No care To see the truck that
Was dangerous To people!
Let alone taxi drivers how fast And how They cut up people aswell!
Which i think are more worse !!

Re: Money or life, which has more value?
The whole driving experience in North Cyprus is now a real challenge for us all who take care and obey the law against a backdrop of flagrant abuse and disregard for others. The answer to it all I have asked myself many times and until now, have not come to any realistic conclusion after contemplating the actions and sequences I have witnessed for myself.
I now just get into my car and as I put on my seat belt pray that it will be a safe journey for all.
