HSBC - new charges on fund transfers?
Has anyone heard the details of new charges which are, apparently, now being levied by HSBC Turkey. on incoming international fund transfers?
I've been charged on funds transferred from my UK HSBC Premier account to my account in the Girne branch, and the explanation received is that "HSBC Turkey does now charge for funds received Internationally and the charges on your account relate to funds received".

Can you not use your UK card to draw out sterling from the cash machines at the bank with no charge incurred?

My uk bank used to charge a flat rate of £1.50 for every withdrawal since last week there is an additional charge to that for withdrawing in a foreign currency which adds up to about £3.00.

Actually, I'm asking about new charges on fund transfers into the account, not withdrawal charges.

Hot Hippo, HSBC in UK are increasing their charges from 1st September 2013. I know you are talking about HSBC Turkey and their Girne branch, but just a guess is that HSBC Turkey are doing the same. I hope this link works for you if only for info in the UK HSBC.

I just transferred large sum in Stirling from UK ( premier) to here in TRNC. If you call them and set up a telephone transfer template there are no charges whatsoever . Do it on line and there are charges.

Re: HSBC - new charges on fund transfers?
Hello Bert, thanks for your reply.
All my transfers have been made by telephone, through the UK Call Centre, and so no charges have been levied by HSBC UK.
As I've said, the charges have been made, on receipt of the funds our account in Girne, and have been levied by HSBC Turkey.
Thus far, I've not received a response, from the Girne branch, to my queries on the reason for these charges having been made, or as to how any future charges will be calculated.
As I'm sure you can guess, I'm not happy with the situation, and will not be making any further fund transfers until such time as I fully understand their charging structure.

That's odd I haven't paid a penny and have done it numerous times. Although just been charged 25 pounds for them to track the Money they lost. Took 5 weeks to recover!!! Good luck

Re: HSBC - new charges on fund transfers?
HSBC A.S. have now confirmed, by e-mail, that charges of 0.27% will be applied to fund transfers from my HSBC UK Premier account to my HSBC A.S. Premier account, from a minimum of $30, to a maximum of $250
Apparently, this is a preferential rate for Premier. I've been informed that these charges have been "posted" within the Girne branch.
Still waiting for further clarification, on a few other points, such as a further 3% tax applied to the charges.
