where is Green Hill Cemetary?

Post by Hippocampus »

Please can somebody give me directions, I would like to go to Ron Hugo's funeral tomorrow. A fine man who will be badly missed, RIP and God bless.

Go along the new by-pass ..
Through 2 sets of traffic lights ..
Look for the cemetery sign on the left ..
Follow the signs up the mountan ..

Harita - Go along from what direction?
The new bypass has lanes going in two directions.

Engage the grey matter, Philoz, if it's on the left and goes up the mountain....

The traffic lights are the clue ,,

Hippocampus, my grey matter is firmly engaged(unlike yours)-I appreciate its up the hill(hence the name)but the two sets of traffic lights bit would not necessarily work from both directions.
The fact there is a sign on the left could well apply from either direction, but there may only be a sign if you travel from one direction
I asked what I thought was a reasonable question, what I was hoping for was a sensible, rather than a sarcastic reply.

Hippocampus-I will take that as a somewhat half hearted apology.

I go out of my way to try to help people that ask questions on the forum-not belittle them or insult them.

I suggest you try the same and put a smile on peoples face.

Inferring that I am stupid doesn't help and is a non productive comment, and I don't see any humour in it.

As the saying goes

'its nice to be nice'

You should try it sometime.

harita- please elaborate as to what the 'Clue ' is.
I only asked for directions - I didn't want to get involved into some sort of navigational challenge.

Philoz .. You can only travel one way on the bypass with the mountains on your left ..
If they are on your right you are obviously travelling in the wrong direction ..

Some of your posts are blatantly taking the proverbial .. You could pick holes in a sieve ..

Agree wholeheartedly regarding Philoz, he will find anything to either argue about or be sarcastic about, suggest you either grow up and learn to take a joke or engage in a bit of lighthearted banter occasionally or go on to another forum as I for one am sick of reading some of your remarks.

Starlitdragartist- Regardless of whether or not you dislike my posts,I notice that your contribution to this forum amounts to 16 posts, most of which were related to buying or selling.

It is inevitable therefore when I have made nearly 600 posts ,that some people don't like what I have to say,and I don't have a problem with that.

I don't like some of what other posters say,but I respect others free speech, what I don't do is suggest they 'sling their hook'.

If I have ever overstepped the mark in the heat of the moment,I have always apologised when I have been In the wrong.

As far as I can see there is no point having an open forum unless you want to encourage different opinions.

Can I suggest that you get more involved in the forum(rather than the Buying/selling section)-it would be boring if everyone used the forum as you do.

As regards having a sense of humour,a lot of members like my humour-but I accept it's a bit like Marmite - you obviously don't understand it so you 'cubbyhole' it as sarcasm.

I look forward to a bit of banter with you in the future.

philoz does not need anyone to stand his corner but I must make a few comments , philoz I think is one of the most helpful posters on this forum and he is obviously an intelligent guy who shares with what seems honesty and sincerity plus a good dry sense of humour , I for one would be very disappointed if the likes of philoz didn't post and I am sure many share my view .

A lot of people got to the funeral but quite a number didn't follow the arrows quite as carefully as necessary and found themselves on the wrong side of the ravine. There are directions but you have to keep your eyes pealed to see some of them. Anyone with a low slung exhaust pipe on their car might have one or two problems! It started as a perfectly OK thread from someone who wanted to pay their respects to Ron, please dont ruin it.

I assume the misspelling of my user name is another piece of jovial banter? You are quite sad really.

We attended the service to pay our respects to Ron.
We found the place by the directions given.

I can not believe how this thread has been ruined by this idiot.

at least after reading this thread if required I will have no problem finding greenhill cemetery ,personally I will be more than happy when the time comes to be in the local cemetery assuming the locals have no objection to be laid to rest there 25/30 years in the future I hope .

starlitdragster put a sock in it and grow up you attention seeker , nowhere in either of your posts do you mention the subject matter serves you right for picking such a stupid name anyway .

O.K. guys, I am going to lock this. Interesting banter, and hopefully no one has taken offence. The trouble with the written word is that there is no body language to go with it, such as a smile, or a raised eyebrow, or shrug of the shoulder (Cypriot style). And of course we can all read it the way that resonates with our own soul. So, I am sure that all the KibKomers who write are good decent folk who would not wish to cause offence.

As to writing for buying and selling only - no harm in that. for some people that is the main purpose of a forum, and we on KibKom are delighted that people feel it is there for them on whatever level they want.

As to the cemetery, hopefully one day it will have a road and feel less like a Green Hill Far away, outside the city wall' (to quote a hymn and which indicated where the lepers were placed! -yes, really!). as to being buried in the local cemetery - you have to be a Muslim (and possibly a citizen)- so now is your chance to convert if not already one! however, Lapta cemetery is for everyone too. and so is Famagusta. But I should wait a bit, one never kowsx where one might be in 25 years - cruising the world in a luxjury yacht from a Lottery win, and when dead being thrown overseas to the fishes to aid the recycling of the world.

So, as I say, I am now locking this. but of ocurse if anyone wants to start another thread about the cemetery, feel free to do so.

Blessings -
