"Little Alsancak" Post Office says NO

After reading in the free Alsancak Express about all the new services they are going to offer!!!
and after trying for 6 years to get a post box - off I went this morning with my 25TL
1 girl in there........ Question 1 Can I buy a post box please.........NO Question 2 In my best Turkish and clutching the Turkish paper with all the boxes on the front Why not? ......A NO
Question 3 Could I speak to someone else? .........NO
Question 4 Where is Dervis Emingil please? .........NO

Oh well, never mind, please don't say you got your box - with no trouble - I've heard that all before too - but that's not the case today.
On the walk back I convinced myself I really don't want one anyway !!!!

You have my sympathies regards Alsancak Post Office, I live in Alsancak but never use it other than twice when I wanted stamps. What I could not understand was why they charged 2Kurus more for each stamp than was printed on the stamp When I asked why, the unhelpful young man (who was repairing his motorbike at the time) said after translation "because we are further away from Girne" i.e. stamps were correct price in Karaoglanoglu but more expensive Alsancak.

I had thought, and hoped that things would improve with the arrival of a new manager, but all too frequently it is just the girl there-- she seems to have very little English, so all the benefits we are supposed to derive, according to the free paper, are unlikely to affect us.
So, it's back to Karaoglanoglu once again!

We must have been very lucky!!Went into enquire about P.O Box,chap just said go to a Yapi & get a new lock,he put it in,paid the dosh,he gave a receipt.Job done in less than an hour.That was about 4 or 5 months ago.
