Closest we've found is Britvic Ginger Ale in small cans Supreme.

Good one Owl Lady ! - I know exactly what you mean but I am eternally an optimist who just happens to love N Cyprus which for all of us folks does exist! Infact, I sometimes I feel sorry for those who are missing out but then I think Thank you God!!

Sometimes we have managed to get bottles of dry ginger from the new Lemar in Alsancak, usually on the shelf over on the left as you go in, down past the cheese/butter chill cabinets near to the door to the staff area of the store.

Canada Dry is unique - it is DRY Ginger Ale and unsweetened, American Ginger Ale is sweetened. Britvic et al. are American. Personally, I hugely prefer Canada Dry.

Canada Dry brand is now owned by Schweppes, I have never tasted it since the takeover and I must hope it remains the same. Before that it was readily available here. I bought it regularly in Tempo up to a couple of years ago when, like so many of life's essentials (e.g. Boddingtons) it just disappeared. According to the guy at Bells 6 months ago, the Schweppes importer was going to bring in 1litre bottles but I have never seen it in the shops.

The Britvic tins are around, Ileli in Alsancak sell them (3rd from the left of the cold drink cabinets) but they are very expensive at 1.5tl or so for a small can - almost the same as the Famous Grouse I mix it with. The 1litre bottles that were the norm up to 1 year ago have completely disapppeared. There is another make recently appeared - Royal Club, 3tl for a 1 litre bottle. I bought it in Ileli but I don't know if they still have any, and I seem to remember seeing it in Bells also.

Hi, try making your own!! Punch in 'dry ginger recipe' into the web.
Make a ginger syrup - dead easy takes about 25 mins and keeps for ages in the fridge.
Add to soda or lemonade (diet) according to taste.
Simples!!!

thanks folks
The Canada dry is my favourite too - Schweppes rendition of it is lovely.
As for making the syrup - well I'll give it a go - take it is easy to find on the web?
