I would like to give a big thank you and a pat on the back to the buyukkonuk belediyesi workers and the villagers of buyukkonuk.

A friend and myself spent a lovely day at the eco village festival, the day started with a wonderfully traffic free drive up there and the beautiful unspoilt views reminded me of how it used to be and why I fell in love with the TRNC.

When we arrived we were directed to the car park and helped to park by friendly belidiyesi staff. Everything was extremely well organised.

We sampled the delicious local homemade food, lovely hot freshly baked bread and other traditional Cyprus foods were on offer.

The music and dancing, especially by the enthusiastic children of the village was a delight.

Wish I could have gone. I just love those days at buyukkonuk. But as Alan can't go walk abouts any more, it gets difficult. But maybe next time we can stop over. so glad you enjoyed it. I know i would have loved it.

Sorry you couldn't make it Marions. I can't get to these events on my own due to lack of transport, it is only thanks to my friend, who has a car that I don't miss out.

I did notice today that there didn't seem to be many expats there, mostly turkish cypriots.

I really think, that if at all possible, we should support these events, I enjoyed it so much but it made me realise how easy it is to get into a 'rut', just going from the same old A to B from day to day.

I hope you and Alan can manage some of the other events coming up.

We went to the eco-festival too, we have friends in Buyukkonuk. I agree, it was fantastic, we had a great time, enjoying the local products, the dancing and, above all, the cheerfulness and friendliness of the local people. There must have been thousands there but it was so well organised and the creativity on display was wonderful. I believe the next eco-day is in October, so keep any eye out if you're interested. It's well worth a visit.

I think it's pretty quiet in December, but they do have a craft centre where the local ladies do their lovely craftwork a couple of days a week. If you can get to the eco-days, it's worthwhile as there is so much local stuff on display, it was absolutely packed when we were there but such a friendly, happy atmosphere.

Had a brilliant time, each Eco Day seems larger than the previous. North Cyprus at its best. Thinking of going to stay for a weekend at 1 of the Eco Guest Houses. They are trying to promote Eco Holidays through specialist tour companies. Good luck to the village.
