Older Turkish Lira
Hi all,
Just having a clear out of clothes etc and came across 145 Turkish Lira, but they are the larger type notes which were replaced by the current ones.
Has anyone any idea where I can change them, I asked at the money exchange in Alsancak, who sent me to CreditWest who weren't interested, so any suggestions would be very welcome,
Regards, John

You would be able to change them at the Central Bank in Lefkosa but as they are worth nothing there is not much point!

Thanks for your reply'
Would they not be worth 145 New Turkish Lira? That would be a nice meal out would it not?
Cheers, John

If you go into the Money Exchange opposite the Garanti bank in Girne and ask them I am sure they will explain exactly what you can do, if anything, about your 145tl. They certainly won't take the bills themselves as they are totally worthless as currency as they stand. I had a friend who tried to do the same as you last year but I think they had to have 500ytl before the central bank would do anything.

Thanks for your replies, looks like the notes will do for starting the fire, which could be soon looking at the weather.

I assume that was a typing error trooper - why would you want ytl. It must have been ytl you were changing for tl, surely. Glad that Turkbank came up with the goods though.
